Is Poch “too nice”. Doesn’t criticise referees when he has plenty of reason to. Always polite to the other managers despite plenty of provocation from Guardiola, Conte et al.

He needs to find that inner Latin fire and start fighting back.

He's fine as he is. I don't want a manager moaning about refs or making excuses.

We need more attacking and creative options it is as simple as that look at the other teams in the top 6 they all have way more players who can create and score goals than we do.

He may not do it in in the press but he and our coaching staff were certainly putting pressure on the ref to book/send their players off after Sanchez was sent off today

Honestly - I don't think it is that simple. Just like its not as simple as Liverpool buying more defenders.

Tactically, we spend too much time standing still - not enough movement on or off the ball. That is a tactical issue that Poch must address - not a lack of players issue. We need to by quicker (not necessarily faster) in the attacking end - moving the ball, and making runs to pull defenders out of position.

Teams have worked us out finally and due to us not having a sufficient ‘plan B’ with personnel who can fill the void with instant effect we’re being made to look a bit crap.
We’ve lost our intensity from ‘Plan A’ and that is the problem, it needs freshening up big time.

Doesn't necessarily have to mean buying players. We're outside of the transfer window anyway so Poch should throw the gauntlet at a few youth players for APOEL and see who rises to the challenge.

Not sure it's way more. Everyone else is in top form whilst we're not so its only fair comparing once in form. Eriksen, Son, Dele and Kane in form are all top quality creative or goal scoring options. Plus there's Lamela returning.

If they're all fit and in top form say a starting 3 of Dele Eriksen and Kane with a backup of Lamela and Son is a match for most of the top 6 as shown last season without Lamela.
I think all we really need to do attacking squad wise is replace Llorente and Sissoko with one high quality dynamic striker. Anything beyond that offers no route for the likes of Edwards, Shashoua or Sterling etc.

I'm far more concerned with the collective form of the team than squad deficiencies though, that needs sorting asap, it won't be fixed by transfers.

However great a coach Poch is, can it be possible it can just go stale. I think it’s widely acknowledged that the likes of Fergie and Wenger will never happen again. And in all honesty Wenger probably been stale for 10 years. Hearing the same voice for 4 years when you’re not winning anything must put a little bit of doubt in players minds. It might be more of a subconscious thing that they don’t even realise. The modern way seems to be 2 or 3 years. Maybe the years of a manager building a dynasty have gone. Something Fergie did do though was change his back room staff or add another voice. Maybe it’s something Poch should consider Just to freshen it up.

Yep, most of us said they during the summer window and our still saying it now, yet again awful recruitment not finding solutions to the areas we were weak in.

I think the players know, and have known since the summer, that the title is an almost impossibility with City’s spending and United’s return to form, and that they missed their chance of that over the last two seasons.

The CL is their chance for glory now (given that we sack off both domestic cups because they’re apparently totally beneath us), which is why we’re seeing completely different performances there.

The motivation isn’t there in the league and it’s showing in our now complete inability to press as a cohesive unit or play with anything like the tempo we’ve had over the last two years.

The Arsenal game was the case in point - getting outfought, outmuscled and out pressed by the physically and often mentally weakest team in the league was a disaster, and set us up for this awful run.

Some key players will be off in the summer, having felt they’ve done all they can at Spurs and following the Walker plan of getting paid three times as much to win something. This’ll probably be two or three of Rose, Dier, Eriksen, Toby or Dele. We’ll need to look hard for the next set of young stars to bring in.

I don’t blame Poch - there’s nothing more he can really do. I don’t even blame the players - to work so hard for two years straight and fall short both times must be crushing, especially when there are so many much easier options than Spurs out there.

The club’s reached the high point it’s possible for us to reach in our current form and in the current footballing climate. The new stadium may help, but probably only over the medium to long term. We should still be finishing in the top six, and making a challenge for the top 4, but I think our best chances of winning something have passed - and unfortunately as a football club we have little to no interest in the domestic cups - prizes which could actually make all the difference in pushing us onthat next level.

I have been so annoyed many of our own fans have been against strengthening our attack because we had Kane Eriksen and Alli... Just crazy thinking example Liverpool had Mane and went and got Salah, City add Bernardo Silva to David Silva..
I know we don't have as much money but we could have targeted Mahrez and Zaha and probably got them.. We could have challenged Arsenal for Lacazette as we had champions league and we could have given Walker more money and persuaded him to stay another season. Instead we made ourselves weaker and Man City stronger, every season we should be looking to freshen the squad with players to challenge our first 11 and bring in players to sit on the bench and not contribute our transfer policy has been lacking and risks affecting our progress.

Because of four football matches and because some saudi's and a brand spunked more money than the average income of a small third world country in the summer?

There is nothing in between with Spurs fans it's just ridiculous highs or lows ...

Brilliant brilliant post totally agree the only way I can see us compete with those two is if enic sell to mega wealthy Arabs, otherwise like you said we hit our ceiling the last two seasons and failed to win anything which is so us.
The new stadium whilst is very welcomed will only make us another version of arsenal which is EPL and CL are out of reach but 4th spot is what we play for every year our holy grail as it were.

Totally agree. I feel like the problem comes from our midfield who offer basically nothing in the final 3rd. Our game plan seems to be give it to the front 3 and hope they can do something with it. Its very easy to blame Alli and Eriksen for our poor form but i think the way we are setting up is making life very difficult for them

I would hardly regard my post as a “ridiculous low” - I’m quite happy with being a consistent top 6 side - it’s much better than where we were for the first 25 years of my life supporting Spurs - but I would really like us to make significant efforts to win the domestic cups as often as possible.

Not sure what’s so wrong about that?

There is nothing wrong with that, as a matter of fact, if you thought otherwise my next question would be "Well why do you even bother watching football then?"
