This thread is an embarrassment.

I'm pretty sure some of these posts are getting laughed at in a rival team's forum.

It's the go to thread for a general piss and moan now the ITK thread has been locked and the Well Done Levy thread has been locked. This is heading down the same route.

English clubs arent going to let the likes of Hazard etc leave after their transfer window closes. By closing it earlier it helps protect the players from bids from abroad, because they could argue that they need in replacements.

JJ In response to Ali Gold saying that Poch suggesting there could be no signings leading to a fanbase meltdown:

Exactly we are trying to get players but selling clubs don’t want to sell exactly like we don’t until our prices are met - it’s not through want of trying or lack of inertia - it’s too convenient to just blame club but stupid market

It's been like it most of the summer, most threads end up a pissing match. Never known it to be this bad on here.

To be honest, what can Poch say? If he states we will sign a certain amount of players and we come up short, the fanbase will go berserk. But if he states ”zero” and we sign two players, people will se that as an victory.

When asked about Liverpool specifically in that they can sign players cos they're willing to pay agents etc:

They have completely overpaid (again)and have a lot more money and completely screwed the market but fair enough to them as they can obviously afford it

Where's that quote from?

Are you sure? We'll have the most settled squad in the entire league.

Anyone we sign at this stage won't be starting and may not have been even if we signed them months ago. Our starting 11 is set for the 1st week whether you like it or not, the only thing that's really causing us issues is the world cup and the progress of 9 of our players which frankly, was unavoidable. Nobody can be blamed for that.

Not sure about that tbh. Our central midfield options are quite limited. We heard the other day that Wanyama has injured the same troublesome knee he had last season, which is a real worry. Winks is still recovering from his previous injury (only 16 league appearances last season). As for Dembele - I've always been a massive fan but he looked like he was on his last legs towards the end of the season and I have severe doubts that he can get through unscathed in the upcoming campaign. He even said that himself not so long ago.

So while I think we have a settled defence and attack, in my view our deficiencies in midfield have been apparent for a while now and it would be a real shame if we didn't try to address that.

JJ is the most reliable of sources, a week is a long time to get a few deals sorted. But there needs to be movement now. There is only a few areas we need improvement in, ideally Dembele should have been replaced by now.

When Poch was asked "has the club done what you asked then to do" he replies "i'm concentrating on doing my job"

With the possibilty of no new players, no strengthing of the squad, other clubs have strengthened, Poch must know he's staring down the barell of a tough season and no trophies. Not something he signed up for when agreeing a new contract

And if two of those signings are having to be a replacement for Alderweireld and Rose, we will hardly have strengthened and left Poch happy anyway.

So, so disappointed with the Clubs approach to this window.

Currently looking absolutely ridiculous.

Its always been on the cards that TA and DR would be leaving, so Pooch would know that they would need replacing.

The conclusion I take from Poch's presser and the stuff from JJ is that this window has been unprecedented in it's nature compared with previous windows and it's not like it was easy before.

As others have said, it's not like Poch can categorically say that we will sign players as he clearly has the inside track from Levy on how hard it's been.

We can talk about other clubs doing deals but as I said, they've not been buying up our targets over us as far as we know. If we'd wanted to sign Felipe Anderson or someone like that them I've no doubt we'd have beaten West Ham to him but he wasn't on our list. Equally we wouldn't have been competing with Utd for Fred or Liverpool for Fabinho because we know that they can overpay.

We're in a tricky position. We have to aim higher than likes of West Ham and Everton but we can't compete with City, Utd and Liverpool.

Both JJ and Trix have said things are happening, so that’s a relief, although time is running out.

Part of the same quote isn't it?

"Last season I told you some numbers, but this season we don't know," he told reporters.

"I don't know if we are going to sign [anyone] or not. We're working on that. I cannot tell you if we're going to sign one, zero or two or three or four."

He added: "I think I am working and focused on trying to deliver my job, our job. I try to prepare the team. That's the focus and we're concentrating on that."
