The way Levy has gone about this window is sheer negligence and anyone disputing that as of now is deluding themselves. The club made ‘all the right noises’ regarding certain targets and money available just to sell season tickets in my opinion, not so far removed from Arsenal post Emirates. Either 1) we never had the money to spend and Levy and the club lied, or 2) we actually do but they don’t want to spend it, which is criminal, and worse imo. I hope Poch doesn’t walk next season but we all know how ambitious he is and there’d be a swarm of clubs (possibly United and/or Real depending on this coming season) welcoming him with open arms, and that would see this house of cards so intricately put together come tumbling down and it could be a Southampton esque firesale next summer as the players see Poch as about half the reason they’re even here. Levy’s fucked us.

Yep. I thought he was absolutely bang on, and it was something I had never considered before, which is always a good thing to hear. Like it or not, we're just not yet in a position where we're going to, or even can, operate like that.

I'd love to know what Pochettino thinks about this topic. He's always talked about the medium to long term project, but even his rhetoric could be interpreted to mean that he's kind of experiencing this clash between what the plans were and the new reality where those plans may not be good enough for him, the squad or the fans anymore.

Poch does often refer to the most important thing being how happy Levy is with him, which suggests he does understand these kind of difficulties.

So even when media/fans criticise Poch for not winning trophies (unfairly) he knows Levy is the only person that can really judge the quality of his work is.

How long he's willing to wait until everything gets into place is the key. Hopefully long enough, especially if we pull something decent out of the bag before the deadline.

This shows why they havent announced dele and eriksens new contracts yet
If this proves to be true this would prove that the club never had any intention to improve the squad with signing. I'd be delighted to see eriksen sign a new contract but equally dissapointed if it was in truth done a month ago and being used to pull the wool over the fans eyes

I'm genuinely interested how you'd interpret this Poch quote then: "We cannot think we are the cleverest people in the world winning trophies spending small money", said Pochetinno. Give us your take on that mate.
Simple. Fans, see the bigger picture and be patient, we aren’t eating at the same table as the other big clubs.

Lets face reality here, Levy and Poch have both improved our club massively since each joined.
The club is where it is because of Levy first of all and secondly Poch., along with a few others along the way.
Levy will never change his stance on transfers, he's a business man and thats how he conducts himself. I do not want to lose Levy but feel that we have reached our limit under his leadership.

Looks like Grealish is having a medical tomorrow, what makes me laugh about this transfer is if he had been playing for Villa in the Premier league, we wouldn't have looked twice at him because of what his cost would be, so why buy him now? It's a Levy buy, simples.

I think he has great potential, but we needed first team improvements during this window, which is not going to happen.

I suppose the good thing is that we havent lost any players (yet) Toby is 100% on his way out, anyone who thinks differently needs to give their head a shake.
I can see us only buying Grealish, selling Toby and loaning out Nocluedo, Janssen etc.

Its the same window that we uaually have and will continue to have whilst Levy is in charge of transfers.

We'll be there or there about the top 4 come the end of the season, my main worry is burn out and not having the quality to not come in to replace the 1st teamers.

More doom and gloom but I can see Poch being in charge of Utd by the end of this season. We have done nothing (so far) to give him reason not to go.

Regardless of what happens, we love the club and love a moan ?

It's a very interesting point but I feel it's only partially true.

In a lot of areas of the pitch, there are positions where it would be extremely difficult for us to improve upon without it costing us ridiculous money.

No way could we buy a better striker than Kane, a better CB than Sanchez, better no10s than Dele and Eriksen etc.

However, can we apply that to central midfield? Do we have anybody there who you could say was truly world class? I find it extremely difficult to believe it's an area we can't improve upon without spending large sums of money. It's surely got to be achievable to find better midfielders within a reasonable price range that are better than what we've got.
And it's not like there aren't any available.

I think it's the other way around tbh.

How can Levy building a great new training ground and new stadium be lucky in any way? Infrastructure wise, Levy is very good. I think that is undeniable and I don't see how anybody could say he isn't.

His record in the transfer market though is highly controversial and for me it is poor.

I don't see how this is an agenda in any way. I think it's balanced criticism.
I’d say his transfer record is inconsistent rather than poor, as it has to be accounted for that he doesn’t identify what the team needs, he doesn’t scout the players and he doesn’t create shortlist’s, all Levy does with regard to transfers is agree a budget for wages and fees, then negotiate deals accordingly. And yes, we wish he’d signed x, y and z, but then we should also be delighted he signed Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose, Davies, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele and Son, not to mention people like Walker, Modric, Bale, Defoe, Keane, Carrick, Robinson, Dawson, Lennon, Steed, YP Lee, Corluka, Ekotto, Huddlestone and several others. If you’re going to blame him for the Rochas, Pamarots, Davis, Dempseys, Bentleys, Paulinhos and Soldados, you have to credit him for the successes. You can’t have one without the other, he either gets credit for wins and blame for losses, or he gets no credit or blame and you accept that in both the case of successes and failures the scouts and managers are at least equally culpable.

Given what the manager said, to have two days left and still no movement is pretty fucking brave from the chairman I will give him that

the only transfer window I recall when everyone was happy was 2013, and only 2 of those players are still with the club. spending loads of money doesnt necessarily mean a good window.

Everyone's transfer record is patchy at best. Everyone. Every club.

Every time I see this thread rise to the top it tells me there is no itk or just bad news and itk

I share the worry that this window will make it very hard to keep Poch next season

Levy = Spursy

Let's face it we never had the Spursy tag before his stewardship of the club.

How has he managed to oversee what should have been our most positive beginning of the season ever into the shambles it has become:-

- Qualified for CL for third straight year
- Opening of the new stadium
- The World Cup winning captain.
- 5 England players coming back from a World Cup as heroes.
- 3 Belgium World Cup semi-finalists

We should have been riding the crest of a wave of optimism and positivity. Look what we've got instead.
