It does feel like Levy wants to dump her (Poch) but is hearing one of his mates will swoop in and take Poch so he is playing it safe and sticking with her

Are you saying if i held off of dumping my ex someone might have jumped in and paid me compensation to take her off my hands? Maybe she was right i do have a lot to learn about how relationships work.

Look at the difference in pressing and intensity, absolute night and day lol

Think I'm just gunna watch our 16/17 season for the rest of this season and just imagine that's what we're seeing now instead.

So whilst every one is gearing up for a drubbing at West Ham, I'll be watching us come back from 2-1 to win 3-2.

That’s really depressing

I didn't think we'd ever get this level of intensity back because it's unrealistic to think you can maintain a press like that over 3 years but we can at least adopt a pressing strategy, we are just so passive it's unreal and I don't think the manager has anyway to combat it.

I remember Poch being very active on the sidelines back then, shouting instructions and pushing our players to press. Nowadays he just stands there with his arms crossed or sitting down with JP staring at an iPad.

Pochettino knows how Levy works by now. To go from I’m happy with no signings to then wanting 6/7 in one window strikes of a man who is looking for an excuse to leave.
He should have tendered his resignation after the Champions League final after he openly admitted he had taken this group of players as far as he could.

I’m not so sure about that. Surely elite athletes should be able to maintain that level of intensity into their late twenties/ early thirties? Obviously if you’re long term injured, like Victor, it’s impossible to maintain the same intensity but I wonder if the reason we’ve dropped the press is also because of a lack of motivation or tactical instruction

I suspect the cost of sacking is ridiculous. Levy is
probably hoping someone comes in for Poch now and that might be the best for all parties. Although I personally feel Poch needs a break from football for a season or two to reset himself.

It's hard to accept this awful form since 01 Jan.

The players need something new now. They aren't working as a team or with any desire to win.

We need a first 11 and to stick with that decision for the next few games. Build some consistency and hopefully recover some form. Freeze players out who want to leave completely.

On a positive note, a season out of European football might be exactly what we need to focus and reset - Like Chelsea did a few seasons back and won the league.

I remember players like Ivica Olic who was a serious grafter at the age of 30 to 35.

You look at players like Mandzukic too.

I think the players haven't lost anything other than intensity and the desire to run through walls for Poch.

If you've ever worked for a company who never changed their operatives or cultures for years then the same level of apathy sets in. Eventually you resent the job and your boss.

Its why people get divorced as things just get stale and you don't have that same energy. Especially if you don't try new exciting ways to keep the relationship fresh.

We're human beings, it's natural.

Think people need to read his quotes from 11th May 2019

“It would be very naive to think we can continue to operate as we have done and that it will get us to the Champions League final and the top four every season when we’re competing against projects like Liverpool or the Manchester clubs.

“If you want to expect the same from us as from Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and Chelsea, give me different tools to work with.

“If not and I see people working in the same way in the future, and I’m going to be this guy, I am the most stupid person to work. We need to create a realistic plan to develop in the next year, five years, and to match people’s expectations because, if not, our destiny is to crash.”

agreed. Plenty of teams have kept the press going for a lot longer than we have. Barca did it for years, Man City and Liverpool have now been doing it for over 3 years too.
I really think there is something more troubling, deeper down at the core of the team. Watching that clip above of SU’s goal, there is a sever lack of any kind of motivation from any of the players to properly get stuck in.. They’ve passed right through our team from their goalkeeper, up to scoring a goal, and I think there was one attempt of a tackle by any of our players. Kane doesn’t even bother jogging, it’s pathetic.

....and to add to this.

How many times have we seen an average or poor performance under Poch in which we scored a late goal or had a late flurry to overcome a deficit and win.

There's a fair few examples of this but the Swansea away one's always stand out.

We were awful the last two times we went there but because the players had the desire and edge we turned out winners. There's plenty of examples of this.

Now we're getting these same levels of performances but the lack of desire and edge. 3-1 last minute wins are becoming the reverse or boring score draws.

We are fizzling out.

Just like Everton last week we look too lethargic, get gifted a goal and then can't hang onto the lead for love nor money.

it was the change of formation and tactics that killed our attempt to hold onto the lead. It’s like we score the Poch panics.

So why did reject a number of players if he could see this coming?

If he wasn't happy with what our scouts suggested he should have realised that it wasn't a platform he could operate with and quit.

He thinks it's easier at Madrid? You buy players at Madrid and they need to perform IMMEDIATELY not 6 months to bed in.

Winning the Champions League? It should be fantastic, no? Close the five-year chapter and go home.”

When pressed whether he would leave Spurs, Pochettino said that he was not joking, but that he meant winning the Champions League would emphatically draw a line under his time at the club so far and raise questions about what could come next.

“It is not a joke,” he said. “Maybe I work with Daniel [Levy], sitting, working in different for sure. To win the Champions League with Tottenham, in this circumstance, in this season, maybe I need to think a little bit to do something different in the future, for sure. Because to repeat this miracle, you know...But for sure I hope [to go] home. Whatever happens tomorrow, I go home.”

Levy is probably haggling with some chairman somewhere about 'selling' Poch. Too high a price for a low value asset. I think we have to wait three 'transfer windows' before Poch leaves. ?
