The players owe us

We can pick any excuse we like which suits our argument. The World Cup finished 5 months ago and I don't see any other club moaning about it and blaming it for their players looking 'tired'. There is no excuse for such a poor performance. Do you think Poch went into the dressing room after the match and said 'Don't worry boys it wasn't your fault you all played at half pace today, it was that bloody World Cup's fault'?

Of course not. So what was our excuse last season when we were just as poor and got done by those bastards again, when we were enjoying a rich vein of form, same as at the weekend..

I'm also amazed that some other members find it incredible that I should say the players owe us. Of course they do, more than any other person or body, I should have thought that was blindingly obvious. We pay our money (loads of it) so we have every right to see them perform better. It's what they're all incredibly well paid for, and it's what they train incredibly hard for, so yes, I demand better than what I got on Sunday for my money.

Regarding your last point, I hope you're wrong about the attendance tomorrow evening. I would hope the Spurs fans would turn up in their droves to see this problem put right, on the pitch where it really matters, against a poor Southampton side.

I said originally that one result does not a season make and I meant it, but we've got to try and put a little love back into the hearts of all us proud Yids after a terrible result with all it's consequences off the pitch.

.
You don’t see any other club moaning because we’re about the only club in the world that didn’t strengthen in the slightest.

This thread is dumb. You can see
The players played their hearts out, but we are simply knackered! You can’t get more passion than what we saw at the Emirates, the fights, the dier goal. What more do you want? Maybe if we had a fresh pair of legs we would of put that scum to bed. However we don’t, so they don’t owe us anything!

The opening poster is clearly frustrated by the weekend result as often is the case when the team leaves the Emirates with fuck all other than excuses, I think we shouldn't be too hard on him as he is showing a bit of passion in order to gear up for tonight's match.;)

Just to put some perspective on it. This is the first London derby we've lost since our last defeat at the Emirates in Nov last year. Since then we've drawn 1 and won the rest.

And just to put some perspective on your post.

We havn't won at Emirates since 2010 when Kaboul scored the winner.

Yep it's not a kind place to us in general. But to be fair our home record against them has been far better in recent years so we often get them back.
It's assumed that the home team should win this fixture. We beat them at home in Feb, they beat us at there place in Dec. They'll also be expected to win at home in the cup too. There's a reason it's called home advantage. It's also the rare occassion when the Emirates does actually get loud.

If I told you what you sounded like, I'd get banned from here. What a couple of stupid comments. Perhaps you could let us all know what you expect for your money, not bloody much by all accounts.

You got EXACTLY what you paid for - entry to a football match.

It was a bloody good match as well. How a NLD should be played. A red card, 2 penalties, 6 goals.

I think it was probably one of the best in living memory. Yes, we lost and that was gutting and hard to take at the time. But it was the most highly contested game i can remember - both teams on a similar level, absolutely going toe-to-toe. Man, i hope we dick them at home though....and i hope we have a full squad to choose from!!

I am never disappointed in this team. I can be disappointed by the result- obviously was on Sunday- but not in them. Always give everything and try everything to win.

Shouldn't be that big of and advantage only to win once every 10 years.

the reason why no other club are moaning about it is they didn't have 9 players involved right up to the Final weekend of the comp, which meant those 9 players have had less than 2 weeks off since the start of the previous season. most clubs are not losing 12+ players every single international break, not every team are involved in the CL. we have played the same amount of games in Europe that Arsenal have, but they haven't fielded a full strength team in any of theirs due to such a weak group.

the reaction to this defeat is worse than the reaction after losing to Watford. As a Spurs fan I'm pissed off to whoever we lose too, but don't think they owe us anything just because your getting grief off the gooners around you. if they was a team fighting relegation year in year out and our record was the same, I'd expect a little anger, but even though it hurts to say it, they have been a top 6 (top 4 for 20 continuous seasons) team for a frigging long time.

I knew someone out there would post a reply worth considering eventually. This one's probably not too far short of the truth. I hate those sons of bitches from Woolwich and have done for nearly 60 years and I was letting a little steam off. I live in Islington so I want everyone to imagine what it's been like round here these last few days. Two of my friends (gooners) have been doing my head in, calling me and emailing me with all sorts of sh*t. Anyway...

I still believe the players owe us and I also believe they feel they do too, despite what all you people on here say. It's not just about the money, that's probably the least important part...it's about repairing the hurt we all felt on Sunday and the only way they can do that, is by delivering a great performance and result tonight.

All you people out there having a dig at me for saying what I said are missing the point. Ask yourselves how you reacted to the performance and the result on Sunday and if anyone says they just felt "Oh well, we lost. Let's move on" I reckon they're lying.

Oh yes, and shelfboy68, thanks for seeing it as it is.

I felt exactly the same as I do everytime we lose to anyone over the last 48years

The money you pay is dictated by market forces, not the players. So really who owes who? I don't know what I am trying to say but yeah COYS!
