Definitely need some sort of defensive coaching. On paper our back 4 doesnt' look greatly bad but I also can't believe the amount of individual errors we make leading to goals.

Thing is even if mathematically it was looking a little better than it does now, when you play as disgustingly as we did yesterday it doesn't give the greatest hope, even if we were 4th now with teams breathing down our necks I'm not sure I'd be greatly confident at all. Our young team has been greatly credited this season but yesterday also highlighted how much work we need still. Probably not fair to go completely on yesterday's game otherwise you'd be thinking we need 10 new first teamers in the summer :D

Think we need 8/9 wins. Makes us rank outsiders but we've been in better runs than this before.

I still think we'll keep all our major players barring Lloris (I'm not counting Verts as a major player and expect him to be off but he's not been up to much this season).

Next season, once Poch has had a full pre-season with them and our young players have a year's experience and Poch can have a transfer window, I'm sure we'll be much more competitive.

Kind of hope we miss our on EL, just for one year. Would force Levy to get bodies out the door as Poch wouldn't be able to keep them happy and we couldn't afford them.
dont do it to yourself mate. face it our luck ran out yesterday. we had many late goals and many nailed on pens against us go our way and yesterday a bang average utd team could have scored 7 or 8 if they tried second half.we put five past chelsea and taken 4 poinst off arsenal so that alone makes the season better than normal. If we can get a level of consistancy going we might break into cl next year but be honest we re nowhere near that level yet

we have a few very winnable games, the reaction to yesterdays game is quite funny. We probably wont, but you are all forgetting a lot of the teams above us are playing each other in the coming weeks.

this team is made of different stuff, i have faith in us bouncing back from yesterday with a few good wins

We only have Everton away, Southampton away and city home, were still in this but we need a few teams to draw against each other, and Chelsea to beat the likes of arsenal.

We win all our remaining games we have 77 points.... usually 70 points is enough for top 4 (of course not the season we finished on 71!!)

Rodgers Believes 74 is the target.... it'll take a massive effort i think we shouldn't get our hopes up.

I hope we get CL or nothing at all. Before this season, I was a big fan of staying in Europa League at least, because it is European competition. And even though part of me still wants to see Spurs play as much as possible, I don't think the pros out-weigh the cons of being in the competition. I think being out of Europe for a year might actually be a positive thing for our young squad and get us another year to try to clear out the players we don't need and settle in as a team.

Thoughts?

Rodgers is right. I reckon we need 74. I think we'll probably do very well the rest of the season, beat Southampton and City, but draw a couple of simpler games to finish on 73 points, thus beating our own record for most points without qualifying for the Champions League of 72.

Huge next 4 matches for us. They are 4 very winnable games, on paper at least, and really need to win them to get back into the running. If we're 6 points off come the final 5 games, then with the likes of City at home and Everton, Southampton and Stoke away we're never going to get top 4 unless those above us implode. In the time we play our next 4 matches, United have Liverpool, City and Chelsea; Liverpool have United and Arsenal; Arsenal have Liverpool and a game delayed. It's a real chance for us to get closer to that top 4, at very worst Liverpool will lose both their games against top 4 rivals and we have a good crack at 5th. We have to be taking at least 10 points from our next 4 though and that's no easy task in itself.

Incase anyone's wondering why I've left Southampton out, it's because they're in the same boat as us.

I've run two different predictors and had us in 7th both times. 1 point separating 5th to 7th. Arsenal to finish second!!

If we were to finish 4th and Everton win the Europa league, would we potentially lose our place to Everton, or can the PL have 5 teams in next years CL?

Will prob need to win 7 and draw 2 to make it. Don't have the firepower or defence for that. But let's at least give it a go. Plenty of points to be lost by teams above us, starting with tonight. Swansea a tough place to go

If Everton win the Europa they'll enter the Champions League as a 5th English side next season.

If Liverpool beat Man Utd we can close the gap to 3pts again but I think it's over.

I'd say we have less than a 5% chance now but obviously we still have to have a go.

First things first, next four games are absolute must wins to stand any chance of getting back into contention.

knowing our luck Leicester will ram in the final nail to our coffin this Saturday - and it will be good night Irene in terms of our season around tea time this Saturday.

Ideally need the Dippers to drop points tonight (unlikely) and then for them to draw with United next week, or perhaps win if they were to lose tonight for example.

Not so sure, Swansea don't lose many at home. Apart from the Chelsea mauling they've only lost to us(when we mugged them) and Southampton(when they were on top until Bony got sent off). I think they've got a decent chance.
