just like all we needed to do was beat newcastle at home who were already relegated last season! or needing chelsea not to win the cl when we finished 4th!

2 points to make it safe!!
Newcastle was away and had pride to play for (see Sunderland yesterday) and Chelsea winning CL putting us into EL was down to a UEFA rule not them. Can't begrudge them a chance to defend it. But can hold a grudge against UEFA for their stupid rule.

As for this season, I see no reason why we can't beat United and Hull. Leicester away is the toughest game IMO, just like West Ham they'll be up for it.

Has anyone asked Rachel Riley if her beloved United were bottle jobs when today was the first time in 5 months that top 4 was in their hands?

my point was that those things happended when we thought we were safly in cl and 2nd. getting 1 point would be in the same situation as them where as 2 points takes out any other variables.

Following if happens will be brilliant IMO...

a) Spurs to seal the 2nd spot at WHL next week beating United
b) Arsenal to finish 6th and kick off the season playing EL end of July.
c) United to lose the EL final to Ajax and finish 5th to enter EL
d) Liverpool to finish 4th and lose the CL qualifiers and go down to EL

Agree with all except would want united 4th and liverpool 5th. United can still spend huge and attract players if in europa whereas Liveepool cant

They happened because the players lost their heads after Chelsea not because they thought we were safe. We have a HUGE GD on City (the only side capable of overtaking).

Conte's being proper naughty in his paper interviews this evening. Chelsea were the underdogs in the title race because they finished 10th last year and we were fighting Leicester for the title.

I actually think he was being quite fair and complimentary.

He said that he's done a great job because it's his first season and that if not for his great season we would have won it.

That's a backhanded compliment really.

He's basically trying to paint the squad he inherited as a mid table team, when they were PL title winners who'd downed tools. And he's got £200k a week players sitting on his bench. A bit of a stretch me thinks.

A second continuous season in the top 3 shows, to all the naysayers and anti-Spurs mobs, that were/are no flash in the pan.

We have arrived and are here to stay.

Is just befitting for Conte to be managing such a club isn't it? Birds of a feather flock together.. Anyone with any sense of righteousness and logic knows what this club is all about.. I don't even wish to say the name of this club or use any expletives for this post, as I just find them utterly pathetic to the core already.. Seriously it has been to such level that I find them saddening, top to bottom.. They can paint whatever picture they like, but almost everybody knows their characters..

They have done nothing right, except having more points than us, as much as I hate to concede the title to them.. But I find that in accepting this just makes me feel all the more proud for our club.. Everything the club has done and gone through is nothing short of anything but above any club has done and can do.. Top to bottom, this is one club of positivity.. Such embodiment got nobody to act, talks and behaves like god-sent, when everything is through good and hardwork..

Good things will come to Tottenham Hotspur, and it actually has.. I will continue to stand by the greatest prize arriving..

Have to agree that Conte's were a back handed compliment, whilst yes it's true Potch has had two years to work with this squad and to get them used to his methods. Conte has had a whole season without really any other distractions to train his squad. In therory pretty much every week he has had 4 free days between matches to train the Chelsea players get them used to his methods and prepare them for matches. Barring Liverpool the rest of the top six for the majority of the season have had two matches a week meaning their managers actually only have had one day a week to work on tactics and prepare there teams for matches. Given the strength of the Chelsea squad they were always going to be challenging for the league this season. Infact I had them favourite's for the league this season as thought it was such a big advantage not playing in Europe also given that Conte is a world class manager a his peak. Seen it over last 6/7 years that teams in the top 6 plus the miricale of Leicester last season who have not had European football that seasonon the whole have successful seasons.

I agree. I don't believe all this "all our players will want to leave" bollocks. I do think the season at Wembley will be hard but if we win our first couple of games there that can all change.

Also, I don't agree that the first season in new WHL will be difficult either. It will be so exciting to be there as we've waited a decade for it to open. It's completely different to Arsenal & West Ham playing at their new stadiums. Ours will be good for a start.

So we lost out on cl when chelsea won the cl because the players lost their heads against chelsea a few seasons after?!? o_O

The gd can still easly swing, IF we dont win again our gd will go down and city are capable of scoring 3 or 4 a game. I am not saying this will happen.

All i am saying is to be safe we need 2 points. its really that simple;)

Conte just preparing the ground for the inevitable second season syndrome next year when other teams know better how to play him and his team have injuries and go off the boil.
Ought to be all over by the time we play our next game and if it isn't it's fair to say they are legends.

Not to mention that Conte inherited a squad that is the culmination of one billion pounds of investment from its dodgy owner, say that again, one billion pounds "loaned" by the owner. Compared to Poch who inherited a team managed by Tim Sherwood, say that again, inherited a team run by the gilet of chaos that was tactics Tim

I saw news that likes of Griezmann are unwilling to move to United if they dont get CL. Hence 5th for United.
Liverpool are becoming penny pinchers nowadays. And I dont think Klopp is that good a manager I thought he was. So, Liverpool 4th, United 5th for me
