Indeed, already done and dusted by all accounts in Italy

Really? News to me. I read a report in Gazzetta claiming he was most likely to sign for Chelsea. In fact, as they always do via a nice little pie chart they had the following chances of him moving:

Chelsea 30%, Milan 20%, Inter 20%, Tottenham 15%, Barcelona 10%, Sao Paolo 5% (all mathematically figured out of course - or actually just numbers plucked out of thin air which goes to show how crap the Italian press is and that they make stuff up just like the British press)

Anyway, isn't Ronaldinho a Spurs fan?

If it goes ahead, they're starting to rebuild nicely, an unreal attack of Ronaldinho, Kaka and that young kid Pato. It's Milan's defence thats the problem though, they need to strengthen there cause they got shown up badly by the goons.

Disagree, they need about 7 new players and an out and out striker is just as much a priority as an almost entirely new backline and a keeper. Spunking a load of money on Ronaldinho wouldn't really help them much (like you said they have Kaka and Pato).

The Milan thing sounds highly unlikely to me, the fact that he would struggle to make the first team there seems to make a move for him unlikely. Miland need a striker and a defender or two, i reckon there is much more chance of Berbatov going to Milan than Ronaldinho.

Italy has got be his preferred destination (Inter or Juve, possibly Roma), although a return to Brazil can't be counted out.

As for the premier league, i can't see it happening myself, but if it were to happen i'd say it be likely to be in this order:

Chelsea, Spurs, City

He may just be the missing link for us. In the very unlikely event that we get him, would like to see him in a free role in midfield. Of course taking him will mean that we'll have to get in a grade A ball-winner.

Even if the story is legit and Ron is interested.

Does anyone think he will take a near £140k a week pay cut from being the worlds highest paid footballer and join us on £60k a week as joint top earner at the club?

I don't think so.

Why would we need to pay him only £60k a week?? The shirt and other merchandising sales he would generate alone would bring in enough money to cover his extra wages. So why not pay him that much. Plus if only costs the £10m being quoted then it is still a great deal.

£10m + £140k per week for 3 years = £22m total

whereas Darren Bent = £16.5m + £60k per week for 3 years = £26M

Whose the better deal of the two???

Even if you go £140k on a 4 year deal, that's still only £30m in wages total. Compared with £12.5m for £60k over 4 years. Only a difference of £17.5m - which if paying a low cost to buy him in the first place still works out as a decent deal.

If we could give him a proper image-rights deal it may be possible, but as soon as you've broken your wage structure others will want more.

Didn't Roma make a bid for him recently?--within the past two years? The coaching change at Inter might put their interest on the back-burner, but they were interested in him as well. Far more likely moves IMO.

The problem with Roma is Totti, if Totti doesn't want him to join (and he probably wont seeing as how they have a similar position) then he wont join.

Can see Inter putting in a bid, or perhaps Juve....

But can't you get around that with a sign-on bonus and keep the wage structure vaguely in check?

It's all money out the club of course but maybe the players get less jealous if Ronnie gets similar weekly wages.

i agree with nickspurs, you can have playing bonuses, goal bonuses, signing bonuses etc.... doesn't have to be a straight wage deal.

plus can you see someone like Lennon walking up to Comolli and saying 'Heh if that geezer Ronaldinho can get £100k a week why can't i? surely i'm as good as him?"

i think people would see that Ronaldino is a huge name in football and that comparing wages with him for most people is just ridiculous.

Well according to talkSPORT yesterday, their Spanish correspondent, the Scottish one, not Sid Lowe, said R told his brother to come over and talk to Ramos to ask if we really are interested after Ramos's comments about him........watch this space.

graham hunter. he knows his stuff.

his brother turned up, asked if we were interested we said yes. his brother said how much would you pay him... then shortly after his brother went home via citeh.

I agree that Inter is more likely, but it is worth pointing out that Ronny could easily replace Taddei--Mancini moving to the right and Ronny on the left...Roma will make a move (maybe not for Ronny, but for someone), they are within spitting distance of top spot in the league; they need someone to give them a push.

If he's really on that much a week Barca might contribute some of his wages as well just to get the rest of it off their books.
