It's amazing what nuggets of inside information you can pick up on unofficial club message boards. But you never know . . . This news bulletin also includes rumour and gossip from Chelsea and West Ham. 'Paul Robinson is a quality keeper, it's just that he is going through a bad patch'
So it's another international week (yawn) and also a pretty slow one on the rumours front so I decided to wade through what the club message boards and fanzine sites had to offer in terms of supposed genuine stories, and boy was I shocked at what I found!

Let's start with the most realistic of rumours that I found, and even this one has an air of fantasy about it. Didier Drogba is apparently on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's summer '08 shopping list. The Chelsea goal machine apparently on his way out at Stamford Bridge but wants to stay in the Premier League as he seems to have gotten the hang of scoring shed loads of goals in the last 18 months.

Some cheeky scousers have given me a good laugh with a rumour they swore to be true and that was the imminent swap between Liverpool and Everton of two of their prized possessions. Toffees fans might want to sit down for this one. Apparently, and I am sure there is absolutely no grain of truth to this one at all, flying winger Harry Kewell is attracting the interest of David Moyes who may be willing to make a swap with their industrious assist-making engine Mikel Arteta.

To be fair, the comment on the message board did say that money would also be handed over by Rafa's side, but let's face it, this is just a pre-derby wind-up and a pretty funny one at that.

Not sure if the next rumour is as ridiculous as the Merseyside one, but it gives it a pretty good run for it's money. Tottenham, resplendent with their own bungler in goal in the shape of Paul Robinson, have been considering a move for Arsenal's Jens Lehmann.

This idea is also amusing and almost certainly dreamed up by an Arsenal fan with a sense of humour who has decided to sign in on a Spurs forum in an attempt to goad his rival fans. Paul Robinson is a quality keeper, it's just that he is going through a bad patch. He has become prone to dropping clangers in recent weeks but overall he is still one of the better keepers in the Premier League.

Jens on the other hand is a bit crazy! A great goalkeeper in his day, but not worth the risk now, and the sooner he leaves the better, especially given his rather petty attacks on Gunners current number one Manuel Almunia.

Now we all know that message boards are all a bit of a laugh and the constant references to seeing players in the vicinity of their club's ground. Or they heard it from a man in the know that the latest sensation was about to seal a deal to sign up.

However, in all honesty I remember reading on a West Ham site that some fan had been told by an insider that they were about to sign Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, I thought that was a joke and it proved to be all too true. In other words, don't believe everything you read, but equally don't be surprised if one in a hundred of these rumours turns out to be on the money.

As Mark states, these rumours hold little or no water, but do you have any solid leads on real gossip? Post a comment below

    and..............

More bits and pieces from the not-too-reliable internet message boards, but the name of Spurs and Cesc Fabregas keep turning up. This news bulletin also includes more rumour and gossip from Manchester United, West Ham and Chelsea. First up an unscrupulous Gunners fan has claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is thinking long and hard about making an offer to Spurs for Adel Taarabt.

Now Martin Jol has been quite clever about his use of the youngster who is often dubbed the new Zidane and I am sure he would be on many teams' shopping lists. Jol will never sell anyway, unless of course the offer was for a ludicrous amount of money and maybe included Cesc Fabregas going in the other direction?

This could just be a wind up or simply a fan on the verge of a nervous breakdown trying to stir things up between the two teams. Either way I don't think anyone is going to buy this story. Even if Adel was seen in the Ashburton Grove area of North London getting out of a cab, which he wasn't (well he might have been, but I know nothing about it!)

Apparently Chelsea's John Terry is set on leaving Stamford Bridge by next summer and Liverpool would be his destination of choice. Not my words but words of a hopeful Reds fans who feels that the England centre back would be very useful at Anfield.

The 26-year-old England skipper would be a great signing for Rafa Benitez as they do appear to be light on the central defensive front, and imagine what a partnership Terry and Jamie Carragher would be? The odds on this happening are pretty long though, although by no means impossible. It does seem that an exodus away from West London following Jose Mourinho's departure seems a real possibility, and whilst a move aboard may be more likely for some of their army of talent I think Terry, if he was to leave, would stay in England.

West Ham's bustling centre forward Dean Ashton is supposedly catching the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and may be the subject of a surprise bid come the summer. That is according, again, to the message boards, another rumour that seems to have very little basis in fact.

The old fashioned striker is something of a cult hero at Upton Park and that is not surprising given the fact that he is effective and gives everything he has week in and week out. Funnily enough I think he could do well wherever he might go, but I think it is unlikely that Alan Curbishley would sell him for straight cash. A swap deal wouldnt't be out of the question though.

Jol is more likely to take Pat Rice for Taarabt.

we will lose talent like Taarabt unless we give them their opportunities. Wenger was never frightened to play Fabregas at 16, so why is Jol so candid about Taarabt

All I would like to say is Man USA please sign Ashton, as it will allow Berbatov to focus on Spurs .. Otherwise, I can see him leaving in January or in the Summer you heard it FIRST !

The significant difference between Arsenal and Spurs is that Arsenal have had a winning squad for many years now and introductions of youngsters to that squad ethos is far easier than Martin Jol's job of having, on occasions, to play a kid to make up numbers in a aquad that is fighting for its own identity and recognition by way of winning something, anything.

Because Fabregas was a far more developed player at 16-17 than Taarabt is now, I should imagine, the same way that Bale is considered first team ready and Taarabt isn't. And given the propensity of SC members (and a depressing number of Spurs fans in general) to turn on players at the drop of a hat, I'd hazard a guess that it would take just two or three poor games for Our Saviour to turn into shit. An amazing number of people appear to have decided Boateng is a complete waste of money on the strength of an indifferent first team debut, Bent is fast becoming the new Rasiak, and God help Berbatov if he puts on a few pounds and doesn't start scoring soon.

And as PT says, Arsenal's whole system has been developed over ten years to enable youngsters to be fed into the side gradually. Even so, they had a major hiccup two years ago.

True, but how many games has Walcot had there?

Jol also has played Lennon when he can after he broke into our team. Its not just lets throw any 16 year old into the team to see if there any good, and (and i hate to say it) you dont get many players like Fabregas coming around.
