certainly putting us in our place - don't think we'd be up here if the woolwich didn't keep helping us out so much, letting us stand on their shoulders for so long

I read the article the other day and I'm sure Wenger never actually says that. he just says they need to catch us.

Then I decided to read it again today.....nope he never once says Arsenal will "put us in our place".

I hate the man, but lets not be idiots about this.

It's a good yardstick the Fulham game. They buckled under the pressure whilst we were given a torrid time but had backbone and won.

How many times does it take the hand to realise the pocket is closed?

I suppose when it comes down to slipping hands into pockets, Arsene's dirty mitts never give up.

Just curious, did they greet each other before the match? Shake hands at all? I mean, i know le wenger is a sour bastard, but Martin's a classy guy - any attempt at a how do you do from either party?

Just reading the BBC interview with him after the match:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said referee Lee Probert cost his side victory

No, your shit defenders did.

"The referee influenced the game in completely the wrong way, in my opinion,"

By... enforcing the rules of the game by means of a whistle? Yeah, i can see how you have that down as the wrong way to influence the game - perhaps a vuvuzela or a telegram next time?

"When Djourou got the first yellow card, they tried every time to get him a second yellow and the referee was naive enough to give it,"
"I saw it coming, you know. I do not need to make stories for newspapers. I tell you the game I have seen. I don't care about the rest."

Well, you should, cos the rest of it was sort of important. Maybe that's why you lost?

Asked if Gervinho has been fouled inside the area by Philippe Senderos, Wenger said: "200%, but we know we don't get penalties."

That's because only one of your strikers has been enough of a threat on goal all season to warrant attention from defenders. Come to that, apart from corners, only one of your strikers has spent any significant time in the box this season

"In the second half, we were tired in the last 10 minutes,"

So were Fulham, i expect.

"We lost the game because we were down to 10 men."

haaaang on... just a few minutes ago, you said it was because the referee influenced the game in the wrong way, then that it was because you don't get given penalties, then because you were all tired, now it's because of ten men - who or what else could you possibly find to blame???

Your team got sloppy, and it's lost all it's confidence because it hinges on one solitary world class player who, if injured, would remove any chance you have of catching us up, let alone the Mancs.

Accept it - perhaps if you took some responsibility for these results instead of blaming everyone from the linesmen to the tea lady, then your players wouldn't feel so hard done by and might realise they have become a bit of a chuckle wagon and make the effort to repair a little of their pride?

No, course not.

Dick.

If he was so sure Fulham were trying to get Djourou sent off and he could 'see it coming', why didn't he sub him?

What makes me laugh is that before he booked Djourou for the first time, he took him to one side and counted 5 (FIVE) fingers for the number of times he had let him off in the game, already (you could see that that was the gist of what he was saying). Then he booked him, for what I still remember as a bookable offence), then he gave a free-kick against him and Djourou started moaning,so the ref had to waive him away. I still remember the second yellow as a foul - just how many chances does Obscene thing he should get, or, as Nightgoat says, with his X-Ray specs, couldn't Whinger have seen before, or on, the first yellow, or when the referee waved him away after awarding a free-kick after the first yellow, that it might have been a good idea to replace the player who had obviously become a walking liability before he was even booked the first time

Djourou had got away with a late tackle two mins earlier where the ref let play continue, it was only a matter of time for the 2nd he was slow and clumsy the whole game. On another note is there a worse player out there at the moment other than Theo Wallcott, I see no end product from this guy week in week out, even Torres grabs the occasional assist

A good summary. Djourou committed so many fouls it was im amazed he lasted that long on the pitch! Wenger's fault for not subbing him.
