The Vorm Dilemma

Do we play Vorm or Lloris in the Second Leg and/or Final?

So we've scraped through the first leg with a 1-0 win. Good result but next week's game will be twice as hard and if I see anyone expecting it to be walkover, I'll facepalm. Vigorously.

I'm sure they'll have plenty of chances next week, especially as our defence will probably collapse under the pressure.

The question is: Should we play Vorm, who has played every C1C game to date, or should we play Lloris, one of the top 3 goalkeepers in the world?

Furthermore, if Vorm does play in the second leg, should we play him in the final against either Liverpool or Chelsea if we get through???

It's almost a moral dilemma. On the one hand, it would be really harsh on Vorm to just cast him off for the last 1 or 2 games. On the other, it's very difficult to bench Lloris in games as important as this. Mancini (I think) got a lot of stick for playing Pantilimon in the cup competitions all the way up to the final, where he dropped him for Hart. Very harsh, but perfectly understandable in a way.

I really am not sure what would be the best thing to do and I'm not advocating either 'side' but I was wondering what everyone else thought about this.

Hugo all the way. Why have one of the best keepers in the world and not play him. Winning the cup for spurs would be massive at the moment and playing Hugo makes us better. No time for sentiment and niceties.

Vorm second leg, Hugo final (assuming). We'll need his sweeper abilities on the huge Wembley pitch, both get a medal, Vorm will understand, it's not like he'll walk out on the club.

Think Vorm would lose a lot of respect for Poch if he was dropped for a final plus I don't think he's done anything to deserve being dropped from cup games.

Vorm is a great keeper in his own right, it's just unfortunate for him he plays with one of the worlds best.

I think people are doing a disservice to Vorm and he'd put in good enough performances for us

I love Vorm and think he's a fantastic keeper, but you don't keep your only world class player on the bench in a cup final.

If we were to get there, I should add!!

Vorm for the second leg, and I think he's done nothing wrong (so far) so should play the final as well... Though when it came to the crunch I cant promise I wouldn't select Hugo!

Lloris because of the shit he has had to put up with and would deserve a Wembley appearance should we make it.

Not sure yet, but I think poch will stick with Vorm.

Difficult not to want Lloris in if we do reach the final though.

Who do I want in goal vs Chelsea or Liverpool?

No brainer.

I like Vorm and think he is a quality keeper, but I think that the first goal in the 2nd leg is going to be crucial and for that reason we should go with Lloris is goal.

If we can't beat Sheffield United it won't be the fault of a quality keeper like Vorm, so play him next week. However, against Chelsea I'd put out our very best - probably the same side that beat them on NYD - so, sorry Vorm, but I'd have Lloris in the final. (And yes, I have indeed factored Liverpool out of the equation.)

No fucking about from here on in, Lloris to come in immediately.

He's our best player at the Club, the only truly world class player we currently have. We have a chance of making a Cup final, and even though I expect us to still get to the final - you just never know. It could be the difference, one world class save that sees us through.

As for the final, kin hell...all day long Lloris. A chance to win silverware, you absolutely must play your best players. This isn't about sentiment.

Vorm will get his proper chance in due course - when Lloris leaves. hopefully not for a while yet.
