A lot of us could see this coming a mile off, this ridiculous "European tour" which for whatever reason, we the british public, don't really care about at all. That attitude will inevitably feed down to the players/staff/coaches, it's a very very very hard competition to win over many many games and going into it without anything other than complete committed conviction will lead to failure.

We NEED to understand this, stop being bloody arrogant and know we're not going to win it and just put out the kids from the beginning. Forgetting what's happened with spurs this year there's always a really good team in it who are walking there league, would probably get to the semis of the champs league at least who are desperate to win this competition(think Zenit, Porto Atl Madrid in years gone by). The Prem and Champs League are just to huge in this country and we are just never going to have the stomach for it.

Fuck off Europa League, just fuck off, I never want to see you again you pointless, shit competition. I hate you. You've robbed us of a proper Europen competition next year.

I would of said rubbish, but now I am in agreeance. It has cost us points the gruelling extra time and silly away trips. And teams so far ahead in minor leagues the europa is there priority. Do not want to watch us in this again.

So what about if we finish in the champions league positions? We aren't going to win it as there are "better" teams in it so I guess we might as well play the kids otherwise we risk not qualifying for it again!!

After yesterday's game, and the heart the likes of Daws and Holtby showed, I'm eager to see if we can go further next year, of course prefer to be in the champions league next year, but if we're in the Europa would love more of the same.

OP we have no chance of winning the CL so do you think we should field our youth team in that next year, so we can concentrate on qualifying for it again the following season?

It's just arrogant to think otherwise.

The games about glory? It's about money. We don't have a sugar daddy, we're a very well run club but we can't afford to fuck up like this because the teams we compete against have bottomless pits of dosh. We don't have the squad for it or the drive to win this competition so we need to stop wasting our time with it.

Say what you want about Arsenal but they understand this. For where we are as club, getting 4th is everything. I don't expect us to this year and we need to learn from our mistakes. I wouldn't be surprised if and when we don't get 4th Levy intervenes and bans the manager for putting out a first team in this competition.... As a business man, he should do.

Are you serious? Is that why Arsenal are now the byword for passive mediocrity?

All the years they've been in the CL and we have now caught them up. They've stagnated whilst we've grown, because they're unable to compete on multiple levels. They're not going to win the league, they're not going to win the Champions League. They're an effort in accounting rather than football.

Arsenal have been in how many consecutive champions leagues??? Over the last 10 years they will of made over 200 million in champions league money alone. They're estimated worth is 2nd only to Manchester United in the country, meanwhile we've mocked them with our league cup win in 2007. Stagnated? Got beat by the biggest team in the world with the best manager who ever lived and two other teams run as billionaires play things... And ran them close a couple of times. For Christs sake, we're in the most watched league in the world. I imagine more people in the world watch Stoke vs Norwich rather than quarter finals of the Europa league.

Of course we want to win things but this is about priorities, we're competing in a league with other teams who don't play by the rules. It's just bloody amazingly arrogant to not understand this and put out teams like we have in the Europa league. The media mock the idea of 4th being so important. They're wrong. It's bloody huge.

Id take a trophy over a top 4 finish every year, I don't want our trophy room to be filled with "congratulations you got top 4" letters!!!

Meant to hit winner because I completely agree with this.

I want to see us lifting trophies and having open top bus parades down tottenham high road. That's why I'm still gutted about last night as the chance to make a European semi final doesn't happen every year.

Without playing Lloris, Kaboul, Sandro, Bale, Lennon or Defoe, our squad players showed they can mix it with one of the larger european teams, who defeated United last year, but couldn't beat us.

Holtby, Siggy, Dempsey, Carrol, Hudd, and Naughton all got valuable playing time they wouldn't have been afforded if it hadn't been for the Uefa Cup. Experience that will be very useful going forward, as we know what they're capable of now.

Agree that winning trophies is hugely important but I'd just put this one at the bottom of the list. Pains me to see Wigan and Millwall fight it for an FA Cup final place whilst Swansea and Bradford have already had their trip to Wembley. If you're going hell for leather for a cup competition, I'd rather we focused on the domestic ones. The investment of time and effort is far less.

In fact I couldn't sleep and your posts particularly annoyed me so I'm going to prove to you how knickers-on-dogs retarded they are.

Arsenal have been in how many consecutive champions leagues??? Over the last 10 years they will of made over 200 million in champions league money alone .

Yes, and their fans are absolutely delighted with this and with the prospect of an eighth straight trophy-less season. Wait, no, it's the other thing, they hate it and they wish they'd win things.

Of course we want to win things but this is about priorities, we're competing in a league with other teams who don't play by the rules. It's just bloody amazingly arrogant to not understand this and put out teams like we have in the Europa league. The media mock the idea of 4th being so important. They're wrong. It's bloody huge.

What? It's arrogant for us to suggest that we can compete in all the competitions we're qualified for? Like we should be able to?

A lot of us could see this coming a mile off, this ridiculous "European tour" which for whatever reason, we the british public, don't really care about at all. That attitude will inevitably feed down to the players/staff/coaches, it's a very very very hard competition to win over many many games and going into it without anything other than complete committed conviction will lead to failure.

Yes, our entire campaign stunk of a lack of conviction and the fact that we didn't want to be there. Which is why we played most of our best XI for most matches. Christ, you could criticize our Europa League campaign for a lot of things but the fact that you think we (or at least the coaching staff) didn't care is hilariously wrong.

So you think it'd be a better show to the world, to the Tottenham faithful if we just give up competitions before we've entered them? Right. If you're so certain we're not capable of winning the Europa League (which, again, bollocks) then what even is the fucking point of entering the Champion's League?

Fuck off Europa League, just fuck off, I never want to see you again you pointless, shit competition. I hate you. You've robbed us of a proper Europen competition next year.

Hang on, in the last paragraph you said it was too difficult, now you're saying it's pointless. Please stick with one kneejerk stupid emotion at a time.

There's no such thing as a "proper European competition", we qualified for the Europa League through our own shortcomings and if that happens again then so be it. It's not pointless, it's not shit, tell that to Basel as they celebrate. And, again: if we can't compete in two competitions (at least) without sacrificing one, we deserve to be in neither.

Although you may have a point with playing a youth side in the Europa League next season to help our league record, it certainly helped last season. Wait. No it fucking didn't. We're capable of cocking up if we play 40 games or 60.
