Mason could stay for another 10 years then leave and he’d still be classed as a very young manager, don’t get all the “he’s got to leave for the sake of his career”.

No harm in learning under different types of managers, i for one am glad he’s staying.

Especially getting to work with Ange who emphasizes attacking, possession football. It will be a great contrast to what he's experienced being on some of our previous manager's coaching teams.

On the one hand maybe, but on the flip side is that hes not serving a consistent apprenticeship, much like our players having to learn new methods every season with a new manager. Does Mason have a definitive view on how he would want his team to play if he was manager, and know how he'd go about it if given the chance? Its difficult to say given his coaching experience, compared to the obvious in Arteta who spent 3-4 years as Peps assistant and has a very clear approach and setup he wants his team to play.

I dont see any issue with him staying but i dont think it helps his prospects as a manager in the short-medium term (if thats even his goal?). To really show his credentials he needs to come out of this tottenham bubble and prove hes able to do it on merit rather than "one of our own" loyalty.

If hes up for continuing his role as an assitant for a few more years then i dont see a massive issue with it.

The amount of fans bashing him on social media being levy puppet is pathetic and saying he should leave.

I think we lost the social media war a long time ago. God knows how many bots or whatever there are trawling our accounts, but within seconds of a post you end up with a million Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool/whoever fans (usually based in Africa) flaming us for whatever the daily wrong is. Same thing happens on the England posts when they mention Kane. 🥴

Excellent news that Mason's staying. I'd love to see him get the job properly at some stage.

think he personally needs to go and test himself, it's clear he wants to be a manager, might be a bit of conflict to be part of Anges backroom set up

Don't understand all these comments that he should leave at all.

Do you honestly want the club to lose a very, very talented coach in a time of upheaval and change?

Weird lot.

I think it’s great for Mason to remain at Spurs and continue his development.

So far he’s worked under defence minded, risk adverse managers, now he gets to work with and learn from an attack minded coach. Surely that has to be great his professional development.

He gets to continue working at the club he loves and Big Ange can tap into his knowledge and experience of the setup and players, win, win for me.

He's 32 ffs. I could barely manage to find my keys in the morning at 32, let alone a football club. He's got loads more to learn, and time to do it in.

It's not that one option is good and the other is bad. There are pros and cons for Mason staying and going.

If he stays, he gets to learn under a very different type of coach, if he goes he gets to put his own ideas into practice. If he stays he risks being a bit forgotten about and seen as an assistant and not the main man. If he goes he risks getting stuck in the lower leagues with a team with very few options.

I'm pleased he has decided to stay as I think his positivity and strength of character will be good to have about the place, but would absolutely support him if he chooses to strike out on his own at some point.

Also, has anyone mentioned his age yet?!!?!? :cautious:

Minor tidbit, but watching a YT video with Kane for a promo shoot and he mentioned the free kick last year vs Brentford. Said it was Mason's idea, and that he told him (Kane) he was better when the ball was moving and tried the layoff FK instead.

I mean no kudos given for taking this long to realise the lad was shite at FKs, but worth mentioning on Mason's tactics either way.

I think he absoloutely loves it.

Gets to stay working at the club he loves and coach a style of football he resonates with, stays in the same house having just had another baby.

I reckon he's very happy all things considered.

He's still so early in his career, if he wants to test himself as a Manager at another club he has plenty of time to do that.

Do you think "you're better at shooting when the ball is moving" was Harry's own interpretation of what was actually said, which was "the whole crowd groans when you try and hit a dead ball because you're f*cking rubbish at it"

I watched Angels interview yesterday where he said Mason was responsible for our attacking corner routines and wanted to give him some props.

He also called out Jedinak for the defensive ones but not sure he has a thread. Our set piece attacking and defending has been very good this year so good to have that attributed!

The match was also a reminder of the legendary Eriksen corner routine....

Feels like we’ve done quite well on corners (both offense and defense) and done quite poorly (both offense and defense) on other free kicks when the ball launches into the box.

esp on defense, I think our line is suicidally high on these free kicks from the “wing” and we’ve given up a lot of free headers. Fortunately not too much actual damage.

I think young Ryan has had free access to Gianni Vio's library of setpieces and he is making the most of it.
