Werner is not surprised by how productive he has been for his teammates. Before signing, he informed Ange Postecoglou that he loves creating chances for others.
“That’s exactly what I talked about with the manager when he called me. I learned over my time in the Premier League that not always goals are counting. Of course, goals for an offensive player are the best you can do. But at the end of the call I told him I love to do assists as well. If we count it, that’s three assists and that’s exactly why I’m here. That’s exactly what he told me as well, that this football and myself fit together and we will enjoy it,” he said in an interview with the club’s media team.
