No, I'd forgotten that rule. Just read it again on the FA site. The way I read it, Tom C can be recalled by Spurs, with Swanseas agreement, but cant represent Spurs again this season. Have to see how it develops, there may come a point, for everyones sake, that he'd be better of training with Spurs than with Swansea, particularly nearer the end of the season, and particularly as he is likely to be absent in June and possibly July at the U21 finals. If he is to have a future with Spurs it will be down to Poch and the coaches and they will need as much time with him as possible. The fact he wasn't permanently transferred must be a positive sign for Tom.
Highlights for me were his performances against Arsenal and Man City.

That's interesting, I did not know that. And yeah that is true, especially with the context of the U21 tournament, that at some point there exists a threshold to which it's more advantageous that he simply return. But surely we'd have to pay a fee then, yes? And despite the advantage of that time with Poch, one has to imagine it'd be tough for Levy to be convinced to pay anything in lieu of someone else is paying his wages and his training costs.

We seem to have a good relationship with Swansea, I don't think a fee would be involved or be legal. I think Tom is on 10k per week, which Swansea would not have to pay. Anyway, too complicated for me, and I am sure the powers that be will work in his and the 2 clubs best interests. Maybe it'll all change around April, nearer the seasons end. But with yesterdays win, the return of Siggy and the signing of Cork, I dont think we will see much of Tom again until the U21 friendlies in mid March.

I think he is playing Ok, plays some sharp passes. Anyone else watching?

Still watching the game although both sides are pretty poor and struggling to create chances although Burnley just conceded an own goal which just about sums this game up. Anyway, back to Carroll, to be honest I don't know what to make of him. He seemed to be playing everywhere in the midfield and had a lot of touches but nothing really incisive. Lots of short backwards and sideways passes but never looked like he could produce a killer pass but then again with that big lump Gomis up front he probably doesn't get a lot of opportunities to play that kind of pass.

Based purely on what I saw of him today I don't see him bringing or adding anything different to the Spurs team. We need our midfielders to be able to dominate the opposition and provide creativity and guile to break teams down and I don't think that's Carroll's game, he simply seems to be a recycler in the same mould as Bentaleb and Mason.

Same mould as Bentaleb and Mason. Blimey those 2 are in a different class to poor young Tom I'm afraid

at what level did carroll score 40 goals in 20 games or whatever it was?
I haven't looked it up, but from memory he was originally played in the youth team (academy?) as a striker and scored 56 goals in 28 games. Its still the record. Such was his perceived talent, the coaches thought he should be more influential/involved in games and he was converted to be a midfielder.

Then that was stupid of them. Goalscorers are worth their weight in gold.

I watched Carroll over 2 and a half years ago at Carlisle. I'm afraid he's hardly improved since then.

If you compare him with the Masons/Bentalebs/Rose/Townsend and Kane's then their is very little chance of seeing this boy at the top level as his improvement in the next 6 months needs to be astronomical

Knocking it around for the U21’s is a million miles away from mixing it with the big boys week in week out in the Prem

I doubt even Swansea will be knocking our door down for him.....

I think he'll end up at Villa now Tim's in charge.

I like him but like i've said numerous times on here I don't think he has the athleticism or intensity to be a success in Pochs system,

Swansea already bidded for him and we rejected it. He has gone from being arguably the most hyped to the most underrated. I would still like to see him for us. He will be a PL footballer think he deserves a proper chance with us first

I'm not sure he has done anything to deserve a shot with us. He has hardly shone at Swansea
