Tom Carroll was exceptional tonight, his movement, work rate, vision, passing everything was top draw!

I think his only weakness is his frame, he needs beefs up a little and if he can he could become at the very least a solid cm for not only club but country.

Which for me is a position that we have to look to strengthen. I can't see Parker or lampard playing in the next world cup and I think at club level we will only get 2 good years out of Parker.

Defiantly one for the future....

Not gonna get carried away with this one. Like I said in another thread, he's going in the right direction which is good but he still has a long long way to go. If I'm brutally honest I can't see him ever being a starter for us but that's just my opinion, certainly not set in stone.

He is a year younger than wilshere and like i said in the at beginning of the season, he is at the same stage of his development as wilshere at that age but due to his small frame he won't have a break through season like wilshere did last season and this may hold him back

they are both 19, Jack turns 20 in jan, tom in may, so its not quite even half a years diff

IMO all Wilshere is is more experienced than Carroll.

Before Wilshere's loan to Bolton I'd say him and Carroll's technical ability and vision now are pretty equal. The only thing is that Carroll's tackling and physical presence just aren't up to snuff quite yet. Although I think he has the potential to be as good as Wilshere. We just need to handle him correctly.

he said in a recent interview that he went to the gym for a while recently but found himself getting slower and feeling sluggish so he stopped. think he needs to do it gradually over the next two years etc.

Your right i got confused because carroll came to the forefront a year later but yeah carroll is year behind welsher and it will get worse because of carroll's boy like frame

Looks neat and tidy, I do think that his passing really needs to be more incisive though he doesnt play a great deal of forward passes. Not ready for the first team yet but a good deal of potential.

I reckon loan him out for a year or so to a team like a Bolton or wolves then take him back much like what chelsea and arsenal did with whiltshire and sturidge respectively. He really impressed me tonight it was a very mature display....

P.s kaboul was immense when he came on as well... Need him to step up in the coming weeks if we are going to grind out some results against the likes of Blackburn away etc. Every game is a cup final for them at mo...

IMO all Wilshere is is more experienced than Carroll.

Wilshere was being spoken about in the main stream media when he was 14 years old, similar to how Gerrard and Rooney was.

He is already a full international and when fit one of the main players of the team. He's got a lot more than experience vs Carroll imo.

unfortunately i disagree, i remember a gooner mate telling me about how good this 16 year old was, that he played like frabregas and I pretty much assumed he was talking shite and just hyping up a semi decent youngster, then i saw him turn out for the scum in a league cup game against sheff united, and i wept that the bastards actually had an incredible player at the tender age of 16

carroll looks neat and tidy, his passing wasn't that great tonight, and he lacks any kind of threat to the other team at the mo but he's just not in Wilshere's league if being totally unbiased.
he needs loaning to a championship team in jan, since the big guns should we make it will be playing in the Europa knockouts anyway

this may be a symptom of being a Spurs fan and overrating my own players, and hating Wilshere because he's a cock, but I sure didn't hear about him when he was 14 and I'm not too sure if he's all THAT good.

Yes he's a very good player, I'll give him that, and he's probably on a higher level than Carroll when it comes to potential, but I don't see THAT much between them.

Just my opinion though of course. Admittedly time will tell as always.

To be honest Carroll's impressed me more in his previous performances. Gave the ball away a few times too many IMO tonight. Then again the whole team did.

I didn't think he played well tonight. Needs to learn to stick his foot in rather than just run next to the opposition. His flick to (I can't remember) was brilliant though.

I think comparing him to wilshire just because there the same age and english is a bit much. He's very young for a cm so he'll need time but technically he looked great. I loved some of his head up long passes... very hudd-esque.

In my opinion which means sweet fa he's got no chance of making it at a top half premiership club

Both the scum kids are in a different class, with the welsh bloke being the better of the 2. The english kid has an amazing engine but the welsh boy has more ability and vision

Oh + Graham Taylor (the man that bought Cascarino instead of Sheringham) thinks Carrol's great too!!!

Wilshere is probably gonna be one of the best english players of his generation, so harsh to compare Carroll to him. I do like the look of Carroll and saw him 3 or 4 times for Orient last season and was always impressed. The O's fans were raving about him, over M'Poku and Kane, a half season loan to a top half championship team in Jan could do wonders for him.

It's much easier to play in front of CM's than be 1 of 2 CM's in a static 442, in arsenal team players are allowed to roam, carroll gets out of position for us he will leave Sandro in 2 or 3 against 1 situation, thats why our flair players haven't done well in our team other than modric,
