It appears the biggest shock here is that its not Harry who has been linked with him but it is Reading
Reading target loan move for Spurs midfielder Huddlestone as McDermott looks to boost survival bid

PUBLISHED: 22:00, 29 December 2012 | UPDATED: 23:44, 29 December 2012
Reading want to sign Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone on loan as they look to break the tradition by escaping relegation after being bottom at Christmas.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas will let Huddlestone leave in January, with Fulham’s former Spurs boss Martin Jol also a Huddlestone fan.
The England international came to close to joining Stoke on loan in August but the deal fell through at the last minute.
Huddlestone has been at White Hart Lane since 2005 but is currently behind Sandro and Mousa Dembele in the Spurs midfield pecking-order with Scott Parker also in the mix after a return from injury.
The 25-year-old was recalled to the England squad by Roy Hodgson for the friendly against Sweden in November after more than two years out of national set-up.
Its not a permanent move, most likely due to fact, they will probably go down

Might be the best business move for us. Get THudd some consistent playing time. Hopefully he will get to shave his head, and then if he does well we can possibly sell him off for more than what we'd get at present.

Who knows, maybe Reading will somehow stay up and they will want him for next season. That's a big maybe, though.

Im sorry mate it does work like that, Im pretty sure he said he wont shave his hair until he scores for Spurs:sneaky: and we cant cheat on charity:D

I have a feeling he will score a penalty on Kings testimonial

Loan with guaranteed purchase if they stay up... would be a good solution for all I feel.

I've looked on some Reading forums/websites lately and they all seem pretty sure that Thudd will join them, they are quite chuffed, seemingly!

Yeah, I've heard it's mostly a loan opportunity.

Makes sense, though. I'd love to sell him off for immediate funds, but the realistic thing to do is send him somewhere that's still in the PL, get him some game time, and hopefully restore some of his lost value.

A summer sale seems likely, and this might be the best way to ensure to get full value.

Hudd would be a great signing for them, or any ther club outside the top 7/8.

He would start every week for a dozen clubs in the prem.

The much maligned THudd gets slagged off way too much on our friendly SC forum here IMHO,... He is still a good player, just not top of the top. I am a little surprised BMJ hasn't come calling as well. I still like THudd, I guess it's becaue I am no expecting him to be Zidane (y)

He looks like that ankle is good now, so let's see what the new year brings ;)

I truly think the Hudd should move to an italian team, he'd be the new Pirlo there

I always really liked Tom but can't see him having a future with us anymore. I think it's best for everyone that he goes and gets playing time at another club. It's a shame he's built the way he is, if he was more athletic he'd be a great midfielder because he has great technique and really good passing range.

I'd love nothing more than to believe that Huddlestone is a true and good fit for AVB's scheme.

Unfortunately, the midfield is driven on mobility, making space for yourself and being able to find pockets quickly in order to make yourself an outlet. Huddlestone simply can't meet those requirements. If he could stay static in midfield and simply ping passes he'd be fine, which is why I think he's a great fit for any long ball team that likes to send long balls into the box.

From the Reading press conference prior to the game yesterday McDermott said that he and AVB are really good friends so maybe this will happen!

I've always admired Tom as a player and a person, he always gets on with things.. I just feel that we have surpassed him as a club and it's time for him to seek his trade elsewhere. I say good luck to you Tom...

I feel sorry for Tommy H, he is a very good player, more a victim of circumstance, he has done very well for Tottenham and when he undoubtably moves on I hope he goes to a club with some credentials as he is too good to be fighting relegation battles.

That is the funniest thing I've ever read. Just because a player can ping a long ball (which isn't the Italian style really, despite Pirlo being class at it) doesn't mean they'd excel in a league where it's less quick and physical (for centre mids anyway). He's got nowhere near enough technical ability to do a Pirlo role. The movement, vision, spacial awareness and range of passing needed is too much for him.

eh...? he battles to keep with the EPL pace but will struggle in Italy where its slower. yeah, you thought that through...

And with more time on the ball he'd have more time to distribute the ball and his strength would help in that league. I'm not saying he plays long ball, I'm saying he can pick the through ball and spread the play better there as he'd have more time.

You must think he is totally shit to have written that post
