Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in making a move for young Tomas Pocchetino. The footballer is, as far as we can tell, no relation to the Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino. Current Italian champions Juventus are confident that they will be able to complete a transfer of the player, according to reports in Italy, but they've not got things all their own way.

The idea of the Turin club is to buy Pochettino and then 'park' him at Sassuolo to develop, before bringing him back to Juventus to fight to get into the first team squad. In turn, Sassuolo would have some kind of ownership rights and get a small fee when the youngster went to Juventus permanently. Such an agreement is much more common in Italian football than in the Premier League.

It sounds like something of a joint transfer. However, no deal is done and Juventus are looking toward the January transfer as the time when they think they can get Pochettino from Boca Juniors. Tottenham Hotspur are stated as being interested too, and have been for some months, and the lure of their very one namesake could be a motivation for Pochettino.

The 18 year old can play as a classic winger or as a central midfielder and he's about to get an EU passport, something which would greatly assist in any transfer. It would negate the need for any buying club to obtain a work permit, something which is becoming increasingly tricky.

No relation? Is 'Pochettino' in Argentina like 'Smith' in England?

Ha doubt it. Never heard of another Argentinian by the name, so is likely just coincidence.

@Ossie85 could certainly give us a more accurate detail though, and could hopefully provide a weigh in on this thread anyway.

I've no idea who he is, and I had never heard of another Pochettino in Argentina until this moment

I'm pretty positive he confirmed that to be Mussachio.

Olé (biggest sport newspaper in Argentina) wrote an article today saying we are interested in Newell's 17yr old forward Ezequiel Ponce for 7m euros.

To be honest, I've never seen much of him. He made his debut at 16, and scored a couple of goals earlier this year. He is a centre forward

Newell's is Pochettino's team in Argentina, so he may know more about them than most.

Well crazy name collusion happen pretty often in recent time.

Fulham bought another Mousa Dembele after sold the first and our biggest hope to replace Kyle Walker one day is Kyle Walker-Peters.

Hannover had one time a Sofian Chahed and a Sofien Chahed in the squad

A Google search suggests he was linked with Roma as well so may have a Baldini influence.
As reported exclusively on Saturday (28/06/14) evening, the sporting director of Rome, during the past few weeks has been to Buenos Aires to strike up a deal farsighted and intelligent. Moreover, if David Trezeguet in person spends his word to crown a gaucho talent to his heir, the talent of this Ezequiel Ponce must be something out of the norm. Born in 1997, the youngest ever to wear the camiseta of Newell's Old Boys. A business card is nothing bad for someone born in Rosario, in the home of Leo Messi and Mauro Icard, and already identified by Argentine critics as the natural continuation of the story of the bomber sauce Albiceleste. The agent is Pablo Sabbag, the same that allowed Rome to gain a scream with the purchase of expensive Lamela from River and its sale to scream at Tottenham. For now the Capitoline offer stands at around € 4 million, but certainly the competition remained puzzled. Waiting to understand the best way to heal a kick in decline, Sabatini abandons think tanks and takes the field in his own way.
