If we win tomorrow we will move up to 12th place and remain 4 points behind newcastle and west ham. However if we lose we will remain 7 points adrift of that next cluster of teams that we need to be working into, nevermind still only 1 point above the dropzone (but we will ignore that).

That on to top of the immense importance it means to the fans and the confidence a win will breed in the squad, is tomorrows game a good old cliched "Must Win" game??

nearly ever game we play now at the moment is a must win game because we cant afford to lose much more games or european football nxt season via the league will be gone and it is very important to get back to were we belong at the other end of the table

isn't every game a must win game? if you need the points or not.

Surely you always need the points?

I wouldn't call it a must win but we do need to win it. Losing wouldn't mean we'd have to write 4th place off but it would be a lot harder to achieve if we don't

We could go 12th with a win but I'm hoping that Fulham win too so we'd be 13th but close to Blackburn who are more of a threat than Fulham

true, but you could have enough point where noone can catch you then points arnt needed

True but that usually doesn't happen until late April and even then that hasn't happened to us in donkey's years

Surely 4th is already written off this year. I would be more then happy if we ended up in the uefa cup places again via the league.

As you'll see in my sig we're only 4 points worse off and there's plenty of opportunity to claw them back. My guess is that we'll need to finish the season 4-6 points higher than last season although Liverpool are a lot poorer this year and Chelsea are prone to slip ups

But aren't they 2 under par? Surely that means they are better than last season.

Anyway, as for us, a 6th place finish would not be a disaster given the way our season has panned so far.

Yes but only because they won today (they were 1 over this morning) and they could fall back.

We'll have a better idea come the new year. If Liverpool are 6 points under and we're 4 points over (10 points diff) then I would imagine it would be hard to finish 4th unless another team is doing worse than Liverpool.

Personally I hope Ramos is able to turn us into a team and we start working and playing as unit rather than people doing what they feel like. I think that's more important that points almost because if we manage to play the right way then we'll pick up points. Even our best moments under Jol we didn't really dominate games aside from Bolton at home last year.

that as may be but Pompey, Everton, Man City, Blackburn & Villa are all much better than they were last year, and we've gotten shitter.

For me it's a 'I hope we don't lose' game. I'd certainly take a draw now if offered it.

Now Thursday - that's a 'must win' game.
