More games, more goals - Tom Huddlestone passed his personal targets last season and is looking to build again next time around.

The midfielder made 41 appearances in all competitions in 2007-08 including starts in seven of our 10 matches in the UEFA Cup.

That was six more appearances in total than 2006-07 and his goal tally went up by one as well, from three to four.

His performances were rewarded by first call into Fabio Capello's senior England squad for the end-of-season friendlies against the USA and Trinidad & Tobago.

"My main objective was to play more games than last season and I did that by quite a few," reflected the midfielder. "We played less games as well, so that was pleasing.

"By playing more games, you should be looking to score more goals and I did that by one, so that's an improvement as well.

"If you want to be a successful team you can't just rely on your strikers to score all the goals, you need goals from all over the pitch - just look at Manchester United and the goals Ronaldo scored. It's something I'm always looking to work on."

No real clues there as to his future...

Perhaps. But the quotes are very reflective, as opposed to speculative.

In fact, it strikes me as odd that he hasn't explicitly stated what he wants to achieve next season.

Perhaps I'm just being cynical?

I think we will keep Hudd, if we dont we will regret it. But if Everton are willing to pay £10m its hard to refuse

he has a couple of months ago he said his target for next season was to make the England side (this was before he was called up) and try and start regualerly for spurs
