We didn't rotate too much in europe as we want to qualify quickly and also have a few injuries. If we beat anderlecht the team away in qarabag will look different.
We hope so, I remember people thinking the same in previous years and the manager taking first team players to secure first place, like AVB did against Anzhi, 3 days later, 4 of the starting 11 played against Liverpool in our worst result under AVB and he was sacked
Palace a par result?! They won 8 out 10 away games before they played us. Catch yourself on. I don't see how we can have played the four form teams in the league and have had easy fixtures.
If you want to finish in the top 4 then thats the type of results that are considered par results. Already this season they have lost Man City and Arsenal, the other teams who will be going for the top 4 or higher
How can you 'kick on' from beating City 4-1 , as if there could've been some sort of improvement on that result? And we've won our last 3 matches.
Kick on by sustaining this sort of performance. Last season we beat Chelsea after being unbeaten in the last games having won 4 games and drawn two, we then immediately lost our next game. We then won 2 games in a row and beat arsenal after that. What happened we lost to Liverpool.

If we want top 4 we will need to sustain this type of result longer than 6 games

I agree with the rest of your post but can't see where you got the bolded part. I think since United lost their dominance the top four has been open more often than not. People on here said of previous 'open' seasons that it would never be so open again and we had to take our chance or lose it forever, but look, here we are again. It'll be open again in future seasons when our young, developing squad will be stronger and we'll have the increased revenue from the new stadium. Relax. :)

Yeah, I agree. It just sounded good saying it lol.

No. Just literally no. They won 8 away games out of 10. Fuck off with your par. it was a good result for fuck sake.

Their last away four away losses in the premier league have been to Man City, Chelsea, Southampton and Man Utd, 3 of last seasons top 4 as well as losing to arsenal earlier in the season.

So Palace is the type of team you need to beat if you want a chance of getting top 4

I am all the more convinced that it will be Chelsea will not finish in top6 let alone top4 - unless something changes drastically.
I have never seen Mourinho this rattled. Its almost as if he doesn't know what to do. First time ever he doesn't have a back up plan. To substitute the substitute Matic in 25 minutes will not go well within the squad.

Chelsea have problems in full back, CB, midfield , winger & strikers and in the dug out and off field with doctor issue.
IMO, Chelscum is there for the taking.

From competition point of view, Everton look real good this season. It really comes down to us whether we take the chance or not.

The thing is if Chelsea get worse, you would think they would sack the manager and potentially fix those issues or Mourinho will get his act together.

Chelsea no matter how bad they look do have the potential to go 20 games unbeaten and just destroy teams, so unless they are in the same position at the end of January I don't think you can write them off as not being able to finish in the top 6 and after all despite this horrendous start they are just 4 points behind us(though we have a game in hand)

After the mind the gap stuff, I don't think a 20 point gap will be enough before I feel safe

Potentially that's true. But IMO, there are too many issues, for any new manager to fix. Chelsea have conceded 17 goals in 8 games, which means they have to score atleast 3 a game to get a positive result. Also there are fitness issues with them. Likes of Ivanovic & Matic confidence are completely shattered. Their new recruits don't look good either. If its going to be a new manager, who ever it is, has to come in middle of season when fixtures are coming thick & fast and has to change it. Not going to be easy.
If Chelsea has to come back, its really down to Mourinho. But his ego is getting the better of him - which is good for us.

Mourinho's ego has got the better of him, finally. He used to be able to use his ego to his advntage, but the more he thought he could do so, the further he went until he didnt realise he had gone too far.

With Palace, Leicester city in 3rd and 4th and West ham in 5th, I don't think the table can be taken too seriously at this stage.

Top 4 won't mean much by the look of things. Top 3 will be CL. As for Chelsea, I am delighted they signed German international Schadenfreude. I laugh till I cry. They are more than a club. They're a f*****g metaphor.

I think our team has good balance and workrate, which gives us a chance even with players that probably aren't as good. I think Man United, City, and Chelsea will all be in the top 3, which means we'd have to finish above Arsenal to be top 4.

Apparently no team with the start chavski have had has ever finished higher than 5th in the prem

Dont have a scooby what that means for us but chavski certainly won't buy there way to top 3 in Jan so unless they sort it right now and go on a imense run the chances are they will finish outside the top 4 :)

So 4th for us and they can win the feckin cl again :dead:

I think City, United and Arsenal are pretty much certainties for top 4.

Chelsea can only go up, they won't get too much worse. Even if they're doing poorly they'll spend big in the January window.

If Ancelotti takes over Anfield he will more than likely build his squad up slowly.

I just can't see us making the top 4, it's deja vu every season it seems. We should have beaten Everton, Stoke, Leicester and Swansea yesterday but couldn't do it, that's not good enough if we want to be up higher

Its much more wide open for 4th imo I think we'll get much better as the season goes on with this squad.

Other teams are better ie Palace Leicester Stoke Southampton Wet Spam that can beat so called better teams..it's gonna be tight. The teams you mentioned we should of beat we could might of lost those games in the past what's encouraging me about our results are we're picking them up.

Not about to make this a Chelsea thread, but seeing Mourinho looking so confused is more or less porn.
His MO when times are rough is to act like a total ****, and he has now raised the ****iness-levels every week. He has now reached a point where he seem to actually wonder if acting like a **** wont solve his troubles.

And he's left to wonder: What other ways are there?

For what its worth I have no expectation of top four this season, I'd expected improvement and would be happy with that but as ever they tease me with the possibility and give me hope, I must keep telling myself it's only eight games, only eight games, only eight games.

Every season starts very similar and every season people forget. With so few games played it only takes three or four consecutive wins to bump you into a competitive spot.

As always the league table will start to take shape around Xmas.
