I would swap all day every day really. Not that we could afford Torres' wages anyway.

There is still a quality player in there, he needs games and someone like Harry to give him a hug.

We need a world class striker more than we need Modric. Huddlestone, Pienaar and even van der Vaart can play Modric's role

Spuriffic, are you there???????

This is easily more ridiculous fella come on???..surely??? :)

So what your saying is you dont watch spurs cos if you think we can replace modric your fucking barmy

Yes, obviously.

There are a number of players out there who can replace Modric, I think you're barmy to think he is one in a million.

Totally disagree, maybe Messi and Ronaldo are irreplaceable, Modric is not. Modric is a wonderful player but time and time again I will ask how many times he has stood out in the CM, or stepped up and unlocked a defence.

I hope we keep Modric because I enjoy watching him, but if he goes its because the wants to, and I am sure someone else can step in.

People on here thought Carrick was irreplaceable when we sold him, he's just a player...theres a whole world of them.

Spot on.

On our shores we have the likes of Dembele and Cabaye who can offer us possibly even more than Modric. Ander Herrera and Ever Banega in Spain are perfect targets, and before he moved to AC Milan, Montolivo would have been perfect.

To suggest Modric is irreplaceable is ridiculous, no player is bigger than the club. Whilst he is a superb player, he is not a match winner, he is not a big game player.

Only 4 players in the world who could replace Modric - Xavi, Alonso, Banega and Javi Martinez; and we've got no chance of signing any of them.

It took us 2.5 years of Zokora and Jenas before we replaced Carrick.

It has taken us 4 years and counting to replace Berbatov.

Moneyball doesn't work, especially not with Redknapp at the helm.

And there is the proof that Dan does actually watch football :)

Carrick set is back 2.5 years, god only knows what modric would because hes 5 times the player carrick....

It really is sad we have people supporting spurs that cannot see greatness when its in front of them...

You my friend are a fucking space cadet...

Why in your genius mind do you think that chelsea arent after dembele or cabaye exactly???...surely they dont just wanna spunk the extra 25m modric would cost over the others for a laugh??

I mean elite club, unlimited funds & they want modric & u think dembele or cabaye could offer more right?...

Forgive me but your a space cadet!

I actually agree with you.

I would definitely consider it providing Chelsea were prepared to take a huge loss on him, his wages would be the obvious problem though.

Modric plus 20 million and I would seriously consider it.

Nope but only because Torres would never join us.

We should refuse to do business with the chavs, just because they are twats. As soon as they start enquiring about Modric, we should respond with £80m, deal or no deal.

I can't see Levy selling him to Chelsea now. The ITK's are saying Modric is heading towards Real Madrid. If that's the case a more realistic deal would be 30m + Diarra. And I would live with that.

For what it's worth, if we were selling him to Chelsea, I'd swap for Torres no problem. Torres is exactly the type of striker we need. Once the shadow of Drogba is off him, Chelsea are going to reap the benefit of Torres.

How would this deal financially work.

Some reports have Torres on 200k a week and Modric on 70k. This means Torres earns 6.7m a year more.

Do we do a deal Torres + £25m for Modric on a 4 year contract and use every penny to pay the extra wages?

Why do some people on this site feel the need to be abusive/insulting with every post at the moment?

Adiepf, it's a forum...that means people have differing opinions. This site would be rubbish if everyone agreed on everything, in fact it wouldn't exist.

Calling people 'space cadets' and generally telling people they are clueless makes you look completely inept at having an adult discussion on a forum.

Your posts may well be right, you may well be correct but I tend not to bother reading them due to the silly nature of the ridiculous name calling that apparently goes hand in hand with them now.

It's a discussion, discuss.
