People paid to identify talented footballers let him leave Chelsea for peanuts… can go round in circles with that one. Not saying I don’t rate him but I’ve probably watched 10-15 palace games last season and he’s never stood out, so my opinion isn’t based on MOTD, I also follow England youth sides closely and he’s never looked anything special there either. You’d think he was another Joe Gomez the way people talk about him but he’s nowhere near, it was blindingly obvious from age 16 Gomez was going to be a very very good player, Guehi is decent but he’s not done anything to justify the 50-60 million price tags being suggested
I hear you. To be honest, I was just being contradictory for comedic effect. I didn’t mean to insult you.

I have no idea if he’s going to be a good, great or shit player. But people better equipped and more experienced than me say he has the potential to be great. I’ll respect their opinions. I respect yours too.

Its always worth remembering that Chelsea also let Salah and De Bruyne go. Just for context, and so we can laugh about that.

That’s the thing though, I’ve never really heard anyone other than the odd anecdote from someone’s Palace supporting friend saying he’s going to be great. I’ve yet to see anyone that’s watched him a lot have their own strong opinion that they think he’s that level. I think if Spurs signed him I’d be quite content with it because he is clearly a good player but 50-60 mil is pushing it. That’s mainly because I don’t think he actually stands out amongst his peers coming through for England though. There’s the likes of Guehi, Tomori, Gomez (not so young anymore but still only 25) Adarabaiyo, Colwill, even Konsa I rate pretty highly and think he should have had a shot in the England squad ahead of very limited players like Maguire and Coady. I just think if we’re desperate for a HG CB then we don’t need to be rushing into spending 50-60 on this guy, there are other very solid options

He has such an un-orthodox long passing technique. It really is quite awkward/hard to look at and you'd be certain that he's about to balloon the ball out of play nearly every time.

But in reality the way the ball actually leaves his foot, and the shape he can achieve with the balls trajectory is actually unbelievably impressive!

Cant say he was a player that I actually looked into too much over the season, so can't actually give a true analysis of him. But I gathered this opinion of him purely from the highlight video he actually posted himself today of his season.

I don't normally say this or take note of a yt video. But his style here is beautiful.

Pace without effort (Ledley like), the way he strikes the ball is lovely, seems like he is putting spin on the ball. Even a couple of Romero esque challenges in there.

Great direct passing for a CB.

Obviously you'd need to see a few full 90s and see how he handles pressing and positional sense etc, but very impressive vid.

Then why i s Guehi the England CB and this chap is nowhere near the squad

And don't give me the usual line that Southgate knows shit
I don't know, I don't pick the england squad. As I said, I personally have never been impressed, especially at the ridiculous prices being bandied about.

You know he’s in the England squad, right?

And he’s represented England in every age group from U16 upwards. (And won the U17 World Cup)

Is that enough people “that’s watched him a lot have their own strong opinion that they think he’s that level.”?

I’m going to leave it, now, as this isn’t the Guehi thread.

Really struck by his passing range and skills bringing the ball out in that video, sure it’s a short clip but actually very impressive to see his confidence on the ball.

Yet to be convinced by Tosin as a defender - looks a decent footballer, but I’ve seen him lack physical presence and/or concentration a little too often for my liking.

Maybe there is some development potential to be tapped.

“That level” being a 50-60m pound player. Being in the England squad doesn’t automatically make you worth that, especially with it being currently the weakest position in the entire squad. I get what you’re saying but the argument would be relevant if I was saying he’s not a good player and he didn’t deserve to be in the England squad, I’m not saying either. I’m simply saying from what I’ve seen he’s not as good as what we’ve been hearing from Palace fans and I believe Tosin has been more impressive this season and also deserves to be given a shot in the England squad over the likes of Dier, Maguire, Coady etc who have been regulars in recent times. That’s just my personal opinion, if we have to rely on the opinion of Southgate or other mangers then what are we doing on a football forum? I don’t want to be pedantic but the fact we’re strongly linked with Tosin would suggest people at the club with informed opinions agree with me that he’s been impressive this season. I’d be happy if we signed him as he’s in my mind 100% an upgrade on every CB we have at the club bar Romero

Palace are always demanding insane money for their players. I have watched guehi a few times including against us and he was pretty crap against us tbh. I don’t get the hype at all. Tomori is miles better than him if we want a hg centre back

I know nothing about this player but Tosin would be a horrible name for a goalkeeper but he ain’t one. So, for that reason, he could be a decent option.

I agree, at the right price, Tosin looks like a good option and fit for us.

As much as one can tell from highlights packages, seems steady and can move the football which is what Ange wants.

I'd like us to sign Tosin as a back up to Romero, imo he's a decent player who'd be a step up on the current version of Davinson Sanchez, and as someone pointed out earlier he'd get plenty of game time in the run up to International fixtures.

However, my Fulham supporting friends seem to think the reason why he's looking to leave is for more regular game time, even though he got something like 25 starts last season, so that could be a problem.
Now i'm sure the chance to double his wages might alter his thinking, but if that is correct then we might find it hard to convince him to join us over a smaller club where he'd be first choice.

I think he could be convinced via wages and that he has a clean slate to earn time here. Any player that wants to make a move should back themselves, or else we probably shouldn't be looking at them haha.

However, a kicker could be to join the project, get back into Europe and then have that expanded amount of matches next season hopefully!

Can't we offer them Sessignon as part of the deal, they are gonna need a LWB now that Robinson looks like he is going to go.

With Romero’s international commitments, penchant for a yellow card, and having had a few injuries, we will need another RCB in rotation. Adarabioyo has stood out when we’ve played Fulham the last two years (I remember thinking two seasons ago he looked good against us).

What I really like about him is he’s
- £15m and home grown.

I’ll admit I haven’t watched much of him not being a Fulham fan, but he’s tall so that’ll do. 😂
