Got to be honest, this guy used to be an absolutely useless source. He might have got better, idk, but he used to just fabricate stories. I would be surprised if there is much truth in this although I also wouldn’t be surprised if Tosin had had enough waiting around.
I can delete if people want? I saw it shared by get french news and went to the source.

I've heard of the journalist but I don't follow the tiers.

This guy isn’t any better than tanganga imo. Just another cheap Daniel levy option. The next Joe rodon.
Possibly a little better than Tanganga. Would like to see us push for a quality LCB as a matter of priority. How hard does it need to be, even a deaf, dumb and blind man sees the need.

🤔 Why the dread and animosity towards Lenglet returning?! Barring Romero he's better than every CB at the club right. now.
And his experience at being a regular for Barca and Sevilla means he's well suited to the system Ange wants to play anyway.

Given how bad our defence looked last season he was actually one of our better defenders. I can't believe some fans are turning our nose up at a top level who may be freely available. While ruing the fact we might miss out on a player who played regularly for a relegated side last year.

Given the possibility that we may lose three key leaders from the squad in HL, PH, and HK I hope Lenglet comes back.

Tbh some “jurnos” who have been awful in the past have got a little better of late I’ve noticed so who knows, he could have info. Wasn’t telling you to delete it just giving a heads up.

Is he, or is that a resigned acceptance based on a worry we won't sign better than him.
Anyone better than no one?

This is what we're stuck with these days. We should be aiming to better the best we have. We need a real leader to transform the team and raise the bar.

I don't think this forum is mentally prepared to deal with not even getting the backup across the line

I am because I‘ve been expecting them to fuck it up. Granted I didn’t think it would be this bad but I wasn’t confident we’d be happy.

Second link is to the article. He is claiming Tosin wants Monaco over us and has agreed personal terms.

From his point of view you're only gonna sign if Ange tells you you're gonna be first choice. He's 25 and has played a couple of seasons at PL level why does he need to go and be a backup for a side coming off a disappointing season? If it was one of the CL clubs it might be a different story but a good season in France might get him a big move next summer. Look at Tomori for example I know he's not had a move but his stock is high and you cant say the Milan move was a bad one.

Whilst I wouldn’t be over the moon with Lenglet he’s turned into quite a peculiar figure of hate. He was no worse than someone like Romero last season.

I agree with your point that he’s an upgrade on most of our current CB’s. He’s not a bad player. I wouldn’t mind him as backup, but for a first choice LCB I reckon we can find someone better (and quicker, to play the high line) .

I quite like Lenglet and think in the right team and set up he’s quality. I don’t think that team and set up is Spurs. We have an opportunity to fill a glaring hole in our team and should be buying a top notch LCB. Ffs even Villa can find a decent LCB!

I think its about player profiles and partnerships. Romero is great and he's by no means slow but he's not the quickest either. We're going to be playing high up the pitch and Romero likes to get stuck in so we need someone with the pace and awareness to get back when we lose the ball and get countered.

I like Lenglet (lovely passer of the ball) but he's not the profile that we need right now.

He's not new or shiny enough for some. They don't want a solid CB, they want a new CB. It'll be the same boneheads who booed Emerson, demanded a new right back and now complain we wasted money on Porro because Emerson is better.

Because what we really lack (and need) in defence is pace - Lenglet is decent on the ball but he is nowhere near quick enough for the way we are playing.

So Romero aside which of our current CB's are better? I just think people are overlooking his abilities because hes potentially a free transfer where his experience shows his true qualities.

I wonder if Tapsoba or VDV were available on the cheap whether some fans would be so keen.

Positioning is important too though. That goal we conceded yesterday both Davies and Romero’s positioning was woeful. I actually think Romero’s positioning could be improved a lot. I’d much rather than that than a hundred metre runner at centre back covering for defensive cock up after defensive cock up.

Not saying a Lenglet is the answer either. That Bassey guy who has just gone to Fulham is meant to be fairly decent, even Brighton were keen and is left sided but we didn’t fancy him. I can’t believe across the whole of world football we can’t find a centre back. Either we aren’t looking hard enough or don’t want to sign one badly enough (not looking at the manager here obviously).
