Good summary.

Given I had to watch this one in the pub, I couldn't really see too much of what Wanyama was doing, which is shame as he is clearly turning into a kingpin.

What surprised me was Pep didn't seem to have a plan B. Constantly tried to pass it out and got regularly caught out. It was only once we got too tired to press high up that they started coming out a bit. We are quite happy to lump it high into their half occasionally as that means we can start the high press again. That idea did not seem to occur to them. That or Aguero and co aren't trusted enough to do that yet.

On our day we really are the best pressing team in the PL. I think we will be the best top 6 team against other top 6 teams for that reason. Just a question of how many points we 'drop' elsewhere.

We are in with a good chance of winning it this year.

Fantastic performance by the team, Wanyama commanded midfield. Lamela should have let Son to take the penalty, especially when he is on fire. Great three points. COYS.

Imagine if Son had taken the penalty and missed. I'd rather he works up a righteous indignation. I think that Lamela probably gave him "the eye", but Bravo saw through the tell.

Be interesting to know who was the designated taker assigned before the match

Agreed. I can't see Lamela going against Poch team orders. Son on fire though will feel he can walk on water and is probably eager to keep his place in the team once Kane is back.

Haha, and the point about Castles at the end. Spot on. I still believe he's a made up journalist, only there to defend Mourinho whenever he can.

Brilliant result, but calling it historic is a bit much. We need to bottle that intensity and concentration and take it on to the next games.

One thing I enjoyed from the match was the fluidity of movement between the front 5 players of Eriksen, Lamela, Alli, Son and Sissoko. I still haven't figured who was playing in with Wanyama.

What a marker to lay down to the rest of the prem!

"Yet to pick Kolarov against Tottenham, a team against whom you need to be hyper-vigilant, is suicidal."

Love that sentence

Surprised to see this sort of comment still.

It is crystal clear now from two separate Poch interviews that he let's the players decide on the spot .

I would expect and hope that Poch lies to journalists in order to ensure that any disharmony is dealt with privately and behind closed doors. That's part of his job.

One hopes this is what Poch will be doing with those two in a private session at some stage today...

"See too Arsenal’s improvement as a whole as Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny have grown as a central defensive partnership. North London might possess the best two central defensive pairings in the country."................? Arsenal with the worst goals conceded in the top half of the table.....?

An odd comment in an otherwise decent article

Edit; scratch this, just realised I was looking at Liverpools....... :(

no mention of Walker anywhere today which is a shame as I thought he was outstanding in defending and joining the attack. We've been easy to criticise him over the last two years but this year he has been awesome.

The one most important conclusion is that we can now beat anyone, and if the squad remains dedicated to the job at hand, we should have some silverware come May.

That was another observation that seems to have got missed...for the most part Walker and Rose seemed to hang back more than usual (or at least that's the way it appeared on TV). Perhaps Poch decided they should be a bit more conservative so as not to over expose the defense on the odd occasions Man City did break out of their half?
