Tottenham are hypocrites, says angry Sevilla chief

The Sevilla president, José María del Nido, has accused the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy of being "hypocrisy personified" over their complaints against Liverpool and Manchester United for what the London club perceive to have been a public and illegal courting of Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs submitted a complaint to the Premier League with their chairman, Daniel Levy, claiming that the behaviour of both clubs had been "disgraceful" in their pursuit of the players.
But Del Nido was outraged to learn of Tottenham's sense of grievance as Sevilla are still smarting after losing their manager, Juande Ramos, to Spurs in controversial circumstances last autumn. "I think it is hypocrisy personified that Spurs are complaining about things they themselves have done," said Del Nido."They took away our manager. I think Tottenham's style is demonstrated by the way they contracted Juande Ramos."

Ramos was photographed at a Sevilla hotel visited by a delegation of Tottenham officials last August. He denied meeting the group from the London club at the time but, after being shown the photographs, claimed he had been meeting friends. Spurs denied that they were looking to replace their manager Martin Jol at the time, though the Dutchman was sacked in October and replaced by Ramos. Relations between Sevilla and Ramos are strained, with each suing the other. "Sevilla have a claim against Juande and Juande has a claim against us and it is being dealt with in the courts of our city," said Del Nido. "It is not a case for Fifa, only for the normal courts. It has nothing to do with Tottenham - just Sevilla and Juande."

Levy expressed his frustration last month at the prospect of losing both Keane and Berbatov. Tottenham have since accepted an apology from Rafael Benítez, with a donation also made to charity, and sanctioned Keane's move to Liverpool for an initial £19m, though their dispute with United remains ongoing.

The legacy of Sevilla's anger at losing Ramos is frustrating Tottenham's attempts to sign their highly rated winger Diego Capel - a £12.5m offer has been rejected, despite meeting a buy-out clause in the player's contract - with the Spanish club suggesting that they would have accepted such an offer from any club apart from Spurs.

Martin Jol, meanwhile, cranked up the pressure on Ramos last night by suggesting that his replacement should be expected to secure a top-four finish after spending heavily in the transfer market this summer. With David Bentley and Luca Modric already recruited at a combined cost of £33.5m, Jol believes there can be no excuses for Ramos failing to achieve success next season. "It's a different philosophy. I think they have to break into the top four now," he said.

Can't really disagree with what he says about Levy. I did feel very uncomfortable when Levy slated Fergie and Benitez after the way he went about hiring Ramos.

Del Nido knows he had a one year rolling contract and he did his best along Monchi to piss off Ramos by blocking some of his preferred buys in favour of Monchi's buys plus was prepared to sell several of their best players all the time.
Juande made the right choice because a chance to build something at Spurs,Levy may have enquired aboout Ramos being interested in coming to England but they got permission to enter negoations so he's just moaning like the twat he is,no hypocrisy at all.

The guy was under contract so you need permission to enter negotiatians with a view to a move, thats pretty obvious but what Del Nido is saying is that he was tapped up.
The compensation was for the remainder of his deal and to cover their losses and finding a new manager.
Not really a secret,if you need to speak to to a manager you need his club to grant permission just like a player, sounding out the manager/player behind the clubs back is what Del Nido is accusing Levy of.

Am I wrong to believe that Ramos was well within his rights to speak to ANY interested Clubs, when he choses to? It is also open to interpretation whether or not WE (Spurs) were obliged to notify Ramos' employers (Sevilla) to get permission to speak to him.
Manure/Pool, on the other hand was PURE illegal (as per the Prem LAW). The Powers that Be at the Prem are never going to 'kill the 'Cow that lays the Golden Eggs'....A strange beast but.....SAF/Benitez are even stranger?
So to the SCUM from Mancville....GET your facts right before you come into my domain....Ooooh....IF you can read....just grunt...for yes....2 grunts for NO? To quote Mt Keegan...."I will just LOVE it when we BEAT Manure!) COYS!

According to Sevilla Presidente Del Nido himself, the legal action is between Sevilla and Juande Ramos, with Tottenham not being a party to the case:

Relations between Sevilla and Ramos are strained, with each suing the other. "Sevilla have a claim against Juande and Juande has a claim against us and it is being dealt with in the courts of our city," said Del Nido. "It is not a case for Fifa, only for the normal courts. We as a club in the way we appointed Ramos have broken no laws what so ever. Liverpool have by way of an apology and donation to our charity have admited guilt over tapping up Keane and Man Utd if they have tapped up Berbatov have actually broken the laws of the game by doing so.

We are not really hypocrites because we were allowed to talk to Ramos about coming to the club because there are no rules governing approaching a Coach unlike a player that is protected by the contract he signed with the club.

The way we went about signing Ramos as coach may have been a little unsavioury but it didn't break any rules and that is why Seville are going after Ramos and not us.
