If a man seriously wants to change his name to Tottenham im kinda glad the government steps in.

I don't see the harm in letting him change his name given that he's an adult and can decide for himself. I am in favour of preventing parents from naming their kids some of the idiotic things people choose nowadays though.

A milder form of it that I do like is in Germany there's like an official way in which names can be spelled. Sometimes I think there's 2 or 3 variations that are common but you can't just "get creative" like some people seem to here. So e.g. if you want to call your kid Simon then it has to be spelled SIMON, you can't randomly just spell it Symon, Cimon, Seyemon or whatever just because you think it's "edgy".
