Tottenham's board are fuming at the team’s limp FA Cup exit on Wednesday. Spurs crashed out to Championship side Sheffield United, who were rewarded with a favourable quarter-final draw at home to Blackburn.

It's convenient this has come out three days later after fan backlash.

That team doesn't get selected unless it's been mde clear to the coaching team that 4th place is more important. I'd be interested to see the difference in bonus between winning the FA Cup and getting 4th.

as someone who's tried to have a balanced view on spurs and not go too far In either direction, this board can go f*** themselves If true. Too many players are playing too many minutes, And if this side didn't have enough talent to beat somebody like Sheffield then that says something about mentality. This team has talent but it doesn't have any great leaders on the pitch.Great leaders don't necessarily have to have talent but they have the ability to drive others

Really? I’m not sure you can guess that from this.

Total spin from Levy to make out he shares our pain. I’m not buying it. It’s no different to Boro, Norwich, Palace and all those other meek exits over recent years. It just keeps happening

That team will always get selected no matter what Levy says. It always has.

In a game like that you have to select Porro, Richarliason, Sanchez, Moura, Son etc. To not give them that opportunity is most likely going to go down badly and could be seen as bad squad management. But as Winks said, when you are out of the side and are desperate to play, there's massive pressure on you and if there are too many changes the whole thing falls apart.

This is compounded by our sustained reliance on excellent, rather unique players like Kane, Romero, Son, Bentancur, rather than systems where others can just fit in. Should they have learnt their lesson by now? Maybe but the idea that we could brute force a cup tie like this not unreasonable.

Sheffield United are a Premier league team in waiting as opposed to Wolves who aren't sure they won't be a championship side next season moreover the changes confirmed the coaching staff weren't taking the FA cup seriously and that message gets through. In a game like that small percentages matter.

Think most of us were a bit worried when we saw the team sheet (Sanchez should never play another second for us) I would have liked to see the same 11 that beat Chelsea start the game and then bring players off to rest them when were a goal or two up.

Don't get me started on Enic, the board & Levy, its just one crazy decision after another year after year after year, it never changes. 15 or 16 managers in the 20 years, the only constant is Enic/Levy/board.

At the embargoed pre Wolves press conference, a journalist hits the nail right on the head. Twice.

It is hard to hear but it was along the lines of:
"When the manager drops the likes of Kane and Romero for a game, is it all the other players get the message that this game is not as important for the club...?"

Stallini replies that any player who thinks that has made a big mistake. But he will not explain why these players were rested for the cup and not for another of the games we have in this run of fixtures.
He will not explain as he knows full well the journalist is right. These games are not so important for the club. Levy sacked the manager right before a league cup final after all.

"From the outside it appears tottenham are happy to finish 4th every year, qualify for the CL, and ultimately everything else is secondary..."
Stallini has no answer for this either other than to half threaten the poor man.

There is no doubt to me Levy did the same deal as wenger - with the devil - 4th place and the best teams in europe will fill your stadium every year, but you'll win nothing.
And like all deals with the devil, they certainly have their up sides. We could have one of our biggest nights of our recent history on wednesday.

As for stellini, I've rapidly gone off him. He was a breath of fresh air but all the lying about injuries, conte's return date, player selection and club philosophy has put me right off. Oh, and that humiliating defeat too.
