Thank god we didn't blow £25 million on this guy. I know everyone was like "It's only £25 million", but if you think about it, that would've been Tottenham's 3rd most expensive signing ever after Soldado and Lamela.

Also, Liverpool want him for £25 million?

We need consistant good players, not 3 games a season players. Have a look at true geordie on youtube talking about wijnaldum, says it all really.

Always thought this guy was good and under Poch could have developed into world class's....yes world class. However 25 million is way over the top. Somewhat disappointed really as I thought at 12-15 million he would have suited us. Crazy transfer market. No doubt fans match tickets prices will jump up soon to cater for hyped up prices for average players. It's a mad, mad football world.

I'm torn on this one. He is a good player, we saw that when he played against us twice last season and if we could get him playing like that every week he probably would be worth 25m, even if lots wouldn't be paid up front but performance related. Newcastle had a terrible season this guy didn't produce most of the time and on that basis he's not worth 5m. Unless he can perform consistently Liverpool are throwing good money away. Right decision from the club if that really is the price.

I think Poch will have had second thoughts about him, after he declared that he would walk straight into the Spurs starting 11. Poch doesnt seem to like that sort of attitude, he likes grafters.
