Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has been heavily linked with an exit this month with Tottenham Hotspur keen on signing him. It seems that Tottenham are plotting a player plus cash deal to sign the Italian playmaker and they have offered three separate players as options to the Italian club along with a cash offer.

Apparently, Spanish winger Bryan Gil is one of the players offered to Roma and it will be interesting to see if the Italians are willing to accept that offer. The other two names have not been mentioned in the report.

I like Gil but no point having him even further down the pecking order. Somebody needs to make way so this makes sense.

We need to add attacking players to the squad. The last thing we need is to replace attacking players one for one.

Harry Kane: our only attacking player that has been consistently delivering the goods this season.
Son: abysmal form over the last 6 months (compared to his own very high standards).
Kulu: in and out of injury list.
Richarlison: in and out of injury list.
Lucas Moura: practically injured the whole season (wouldn´t be surprised if he has already played his last game for us).

I like Gil - he´s got potential. When he got a couple of games back-to-back, he showed that he can be a part of this team.

Conte prefers to play with three attacking players. In that case we should have 6 players: 3 to start the game and 3 to bring on from the bench. I don´t think we´ve had three in form attackers for more than 20-25 minutes this season.

Especially considering the Moura situation, we should not let any of our attackers go (except Moura).

The obvious surplus player that we should be interested in getting off our books, and that could be of interest to a Serie A club, is Emerson Royal.

Lo Celso, Ndombele, Winks, Regi are of course other such players - but I would expect those are not on the table as they´re currently on loan elsewhere?

Thing is, under Conte it took injuries to Richarlison, Kulusevski AND Lucas for Gil to get even 2 starts. In a season where our other wide forwards have been injured he's accumulated a grand total of 148 PL minutes.

If we keep him, I'd be surprised if he doubles that in the remainder of the season.

Maybe if we had a different coach who valued Gil's type of player then yeah, it would make more sense for him to say, but under Conte I really don't think he's going to make any difference to our season.

I like Gil, but at the moment he's not good enough to be a top 6 attacker - either as a starter or a rotation opton - and at Spurs he's not going to get enough minutes to develop into one either.

Personally I'd be fine if we cut our losses on him. He's got a lot of talent but he's a bad fit for us given the stage of his development, our style of play and his physical profile

(And if we don't sell him I think he should be loaned to another PL/Championship/SPL club)
