Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the main clubs linked with a transfer for Memphis Depay over the past year.

I have watched a bit of him now Sky Sports are showing the Eridivisie, plus his game for Holland against Turkey and he hasn't impressed me at all in what is a pretty average League.

Like a lot of quick Dutch players in the past, I can see him filtering out the top Leagues and ending up in Greece or somewhere like that.

What is it that you're not impressed by.

Having not seen anything of him i'm interested to get a more balanced opinion ?

Despite an abundance of pace he often lacks directness.

The one game (I know it's only one game) for Holland I watched against Turkey showed him to be pretty dumb too.

He had the opportunity to run in behind their full back on multiple occasions but either failed to make the run or did it too late and was flagged offside.

He seems like another one of these wide forwards who doesn't really have a definitive position or reason behind what they do and where they play. We have three of those already.

His pace will get him goals in Holland, but I just don't see him being successful over here. He is no better than Navas say, and he has hardly set the League on fire, no matter what @PeeEyeEmPee predicted/promised.

If you add up the cost of all the players
we don't buy that we are apparently in for
then we have more than enough to build the new stadium.

We really need to be signing smarter players with better passing ability, rather than players that are just quick for the sake of it. Look at the scum down the road. One of the obvious reasons why they always seem to have a decent side, especially over the past 20 years or so is that they nearly always sign good, technical passers of the ball. I know that Poch needs pace in his high pressing game, but if he's not careful, he'll end up with a team of speedy fcuk-wits.

I said last summer that we should use Chadli more over buying Depay. That's my general view still, even if Chadli is not as good as he was pre-injury.

Chadli needs a good slap around the head.

Clearly has the makings of a very, very good player but far too often prances around looking more like a hair gel model than a footballer.

I rather have a team of speedy fcuk-wits than our current slow fcuk-wits.

I'm not overly fussed with this. If Depay would rather sit on the bench at one of our more cash-rich rivals, then that is definitely not the type of player we need.

I've had enough of so-called 'big-names' joining the club & basically taking liberties, putting in poor performances & generally not giving a damn about the club. We need well scouted, well thoughtout additions regardless of their reputations.

Poch needs to be allowed to get on with it in the summer & really put his stamp on the team.

Accrding to Archie (on SO) Spurs made offers (a few years ago of course) players like Aguero and Xavi (Spurs were laughed of by Barca than time, naturally)... so I won't be surprised if Levy tried to make a deal - on his conditions

he's a very good young player and looks exactly what we need, I really hope we don't just walk away from this one and end up with a 3rd or 4th choice once again:banghead:
