hate to say it but if we cant match his ambition he will eventually depart - if he's as good as we think he is. so lets get our shit together.

100k isnt as much as it used to be in Premier League. With the new tv deal if we give the players equal raise to the money we get ourselves then we'll get several on that kind of pay.
I'm fairly sure we'll have to pay all of Kane, Lloris, Eriksen and Lamela that much to keep them - soon Alli too

Wish they would f**k off with the wage structure b*****ks tbh. We don't have a wage structure we just don't get ourselves in terrible positions by paying shit players incredible salaries

he is worth more
To us currently he's invaluable. The domino effect alone of him leaving (i.e. losing potentially losing Poch, Ali etc) would be a complete disaster and that's ignoring what he does for us on the Poch.

Pay him. Pay him whatever he wants if that means he'll stay even if it eats into our transfer budget.

"To ward off interest from Man Utd".
So United are going to try and play Martial, Kane, Rooney & Ibrahimovic at the same time?!

This.

I think we're a little way off this being an issue (hopefully we don't take it for granted!) but like other key men in this team, we need to show that we're building and they are a part of that. Failure to do so will result in them looking to match their ability to their ambitions elsewhere. Luckily i don't think money is the key motivator for this squad at the moment.

TBH i think this is just media bollocks. I'm sure there's been enquiries but they'll have been met with a polite 'fuck off' i'm certain.

On a related note, it's great that United are just repeatedly throwing money at their problems, no long term building, no genuine strategy, just £££ at every possible chance. As much as i (and many others) hated United throughout their years of dominance, they did things properly. Fergie built squad after squad that challenged for everything, how thats changed.

like with the Eriksen thread - do we really think that many of our top players are going to give up the CL football they worked for with us to sign for Utd just for the money?

Next season if we fail to qualify/slump significantly in the league then maybe but this summer I struggle to see how. Am I just being naive?

United have also been seriously striking out with some of their targets. They put themselves in the Real, Barca , and Bayern category for attracting players and constantly get burned for it.

This is obviously great news (he has accepted the contract if our lovely resident ITK's are to be believed, which I do) but it always makes me laugh when I see the press saying things like they have in this story. As if a £100k p/w contract is gonna ward off a behemoth such as Man United.

As @Hoops said, Ashley Young is on more than that & he's barely ever fit/playing. Kane is obviously going nowhere, but it would take much more than £100k p/w to fend off the likes of United, if Kane ever expressed an interest in looking elsewhere.

I think the importance of CL football is vastly overrated among the players. There are two reasons why players want CL football - money and exposure. Players (really their agents) know clubs have more money to spend with CL - they want their share. The exposure really is important in years leading up to big competitions - Euros or WC. Players want to be seen on the bigger stage by their national team managers. This year is not a critical year for player to be in CL from that perspective. So, if they can go somewhere to get paid - they will look at it.

Cough from the back of the room from Mr Adebayor

Yes it did. Sherwood was his primary source. All his regular news dried up post Sherwood.

Disagree completely. Has definitely written some pretty informed articles since Sherwood.
