Agreed... great guy, great player would've loved to have seen him succeed... but just didn't happen... ah well... and so the clear-out continues...

£10m sounds about right for him now. Hopefully we'll re-invest the money wisely.

WTF, Did Levy just agree to take a £7m hit??

What the hell is going on?

I suspect that the answer to that is contained in this familiar phrase from the article": "up to £17 million".

That would suggest that the headline transfer figure is not what we have actually paid and that we are not incurring a loss anything like 7m.

Wouldn't it be so "Levy" if that was true and he actually made a profit from that deal :D

Can't believe any self respecting professional would go there in their prime years.
Nothing official on this yet, I hope for hos sake he goes somewhere more high profile.

For a deep midfielder, he came up with more than his fair share of goals, some quite important.
Sure, he could not pass or dribble and fouled whenever he tackled, but of all of AVB's purchases, he was no where near the worst.

Was so excited when we got him and can't think of a bigger disappointment off hand. Scored a few but couldn't tackle a dustbin.

When I heard about a move to China I thought maybe not the best move for him personally. But Guangzhou is right next to Hong Kong, so on a reported £90k per week life won't be so bad if he lives and commutes from there!

High profile? I don't suppose this is a major concern for Paulinho, maybe Scolari will even re-vitalize his form; but for Spurs £10 mill. sounds pretty good; bite their arm off!

He'll never get back in the Brazil squad playing in China.
It'll be the end of his career. Going there would be worse a move than defoe going to Toronto.

Demba Ba has just gone to Shanghai for 14m Euros. He was signed for 6m by Besiktas.

Maybe Guangzhou should pay a bit more for Paulinho! His attempt vs Burnley last season was a thing of beauty...

Good luck to him but cashing it 26? I think that is a bit sad. Not that he will worry!

hi- have you ever been to the area? It's not that simple like traveling from England to Scotland or Wales. It can be a real hassle even for VIPs to cross at Shenzhen. He'll live on the mainland but there are some very exclusive 'gardens' with top security etc scattered all around the city and it's suburbs

Thought he did okay (not good, but okay) until he got injured against Stoke. Then the wheels came off.

Yes I have been to HK many times and lived and worked there for 3 years. That was some time ago however! I have more recently traveled around China, and thought movement between mainland and HK was more open. But thanks for your info, and I agree he will be well looked after, its just that HK would offer more "freedom" and internationalism for his family (if he has one!).
