Tottenham are not planning to sign Pierluigi Gollini permanently this summer. The 27-year-old was recruited by Spurs last summer from Atalanta on a season-long loan with a £13million option to buy. A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Antonio Conte has not been impressed enough by Gollini to want to sign him permanently.

Gollini has been a waste of time, we could have used Austin or Whiteman and saved ourselves a loan fee.

He has been a good cheerleader and a positive presence in the group but, as a goalkeeper he is sub-par and will not be missed. Nothing against the bloke though but we need a keeper to push Hugo not another Michel Vorm type.

There seems to be a pattern developing with our reserve keepers. Wasn't it the same with Joe Hart? Great influence in the changing room but not much good when called into duty. (Perhaps Hugo only signed his recent contract extension on the basis that he's be the undisputed No 1 choice?)
