This sends the wrong signals to any young rising star. Come to Spurs and waste 2 years of your career.

Ryan Sausage will be next.

He's been very unlucky~ returning to Leeds and not playing.
Injuries and poor loans.
Let us hope he can rediscover his form from a few yearr ago~ we've not seen his good side

It’s not worked out but he lost form at Leeds I think after injury and has never really pushed on, I don’t think his played well in a Spurs shirt. Football is a funny game things can change so quick.

I hope Clarke and Sess turn it around at Spurs

Most likely another flop - at least he wasn't as expensive as Bergwijn.

Not sure where Bergwijn comes into this particular equation?

As other have noted he's (Clarke) not been able to push on for a few reasons. Needs to go and play first team football at a lower league club, build up his game time and establish himself as a first team player.

Because Bergwijn is another winger who is probably never gonna make it at Spurs. We've spend £65m on mediocrity like Clarke, Bergwijn and Sessegnon and so far we haven't got much, if anything, in return and there is zero indication that it will change anytime soon.

I'm sure that there are a lot of excuses to be made, but I think we should be much more ruthless and get rid of players like Bergwijn, Clarke, Winks, Dele etc. ASAP.

I agree we need to be more ruthless, just not sure that the cost of Bergwijn vs. Clarke holds up to any scrutiny. If anything we over spent on Clarke and under spent on Begwijn if you look at their number of games/goals and profile prior to signing.

I guess we can agree that none of those mentioned have pushed on as we'd have hoped. Clarke needs to go and play, as does Sess really, a loan or minutes instead of Davies would work - Bergwijn is at that tipping point now, he's 24 and needs to show he's a top flight player in the next year or so, otherwise his prospects look a bit limited.

Numbers in The Eredivisie hardly mean anything, especially if you play for a top team there. - Jozy Altidore (if you even still know who that is?) scored 30+ goals for AZ just before Sunderland signed him (and what to think of one Vincent Janssen?) . West Ham flop Haller is now scoring goals for fun there as well.

Plenty of signings at all clubs fail to make the grade, Clarke is just another so far , another loan may work wonders....

Another Eredivisie signing as above , must be something about AZ .
Years Team Apps (Gls)

2015–2016 AZ Alkmaar 34 (27)
2016–2019 Tottenham Hotspur 31 (2)

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Exactly this - I don't see any reason for anyone finding this situation discouraging. The club's history (and that of other clubs) is littered with players who didn't make it - that's just the way it goes. Hopefully the lad will go onto have a decent career somewhere.

Thought it was an odd signing at the time, but also thought he'd fit pochettinos side well. Changes of managers, injuries etc all played a part, but I thought the lad made a mistake coming to spurs. For his career.

Its why players like Bellingam, sancho etc were spot on with their decision to go abroad. Clarke should have stayed at Leeds or over seas.

A shame as he seems like a great lad and was very decent when on form. Hopefully he can reignite his career.

Tottenham need to develop a coherent strategy with young players that makes the club attractive outside of £ signs. Which means no more average staff from France etc. Also, in Europe, play the younguns. And show we are serious about them having a platform to develop.

It feels like we don't have a huge amount of success buying very young players who are years away from possibly reaching a level to play for us.

We bought Bale and Alli young but they were ready to step in straight away.

But the likes of Parrett, Bostock and others that require years of developing generally don't work out for us. Rose is the only one I can think of.

A couple of loans and who knows.

You could well be right, though i do feel that Ryan could be a good squad player for us.

Kyle Walker was good, Dier is ok, Naughton was a good squad player, it’s worth taking the chance.

Walker was a first team starter 2 seasons after joining us. I’m talking about younger players who are 4-5 years from becoming a member of the first team squad.
