To be fair, pretty much any time we have signed a "top star", they've turned out to be a massive disappointment, all for varying reasons. So I'm fine with whoever we get in as long as Poch and his team believe they'll add to the quality in the squad...and in the case of centrebacks, hopefully the first team....ASAP.

Can only hope that if he was identified by Paul Mitchell and Mauricio then he'll fit right into the side once the new season starts and provided he has a decent pre season.

Good start with a young, promising player....As far as the other comments in the article; the so-called "clear-out" part: I think Lamela and maybe Fazio should be kept....what do others on here think?

A top young CB from the Bundesliga...so have Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke and Leverkusen been interested in him?.....if not why not???
Sorry but its got to the stage that when we buy someone I have to ask myself that if they are any good how did we get them.

I'd never heard of Luca Modric when we bought him so I'll save me opinion of young Kevin Wimmer until I see him. I'd never heard of Eric Dier either & he looks quite a promising kid too (wish we'd snapped him up as cheap as he went) ;)

i had heard of Dier, Modric and Berbatov. Never heard of Wimmer. He may turn out to be good, but right now I feel like its a meh signing. Like all the other meh signings. Davies, Stambouli etc etc...

Good consistent young defender with bags of potential. Fingers crossed for the future.....I think he will develop into a good buy.

Selling Lamela would be a mistake, the guy is still very young, I feel he will get better and better.

I'm happy to go with whatever the manager decides, either way will not be a mistake. He has massively disappointed despite the assists others go on about so if he goes I can understand why. If the manager thinks he is worth another season to see if we can can an improvement, then again I can understand why.

I've begun to have a real liking of Lamela. If he pumps iron enough in the off-season and comes back with at least another 10 lbs of muscles in his upper body, I'm really confident he'll shine next season.

Criticizing Wimmer for not being a big name is a bit too negative, even for Spurs fans in their current malaise. Soldado signed for us and you knew we got him because we paid the release clause, beating some competition for his signature, and that he was a goal machine in Spain. But it turned out not to be a predictor of future performance for us.

Give the fella a chance to play a game for us at least. Our center-halves haven't really torn it up for us this season, and maybe this guy can help solve that.

The guy is welcome at Spurs and hopefully he makes a difference to our defence.

We have fans on here who say that if we are to sell our best keeper it should be to a foreign club. That same principle applies to other football countries too.

I doubt Cologne want one of their better players going to Dortmund or Munich. Timo Werner may be the next player to fall into that category and I would be surprised if he does not end up in England sooner rather than later.

Someone else mentioned that he hadn't heard Wimmer so how good could he be. Players excel in different environments. How Many Arsenal fans dismissed the return of Francis Coquelin when he came back from Charlton on loan? I am sure they like him now when in the recent past they would have driven him out of the club.

Obviously this move will go one of two ways. I'd never heard of Eric Dier and he was a hit, I'd never heard of Vlad Chiriches and he was shit
