If we did become more powerful operators in the transfer market I’m not sure I’d be happy Paratici would be given the chequebook.

Whilst he can definitely spot player, I’ve got massive questions about whether he knows how to build a balanced squad, the same accusations that dogged him at Juve.
I would give Paratici a blank chequebook if I had that kind of money.

Far more hits than misses, imo. And it seems his bigger issue is offloading players, which would be less of an issue if we were willing to take the financial hit on sales.

I've asked a few times recently about a potential takeover or investment and I've been blanked every time. To me that could be a sign something is happening. Or it could be a sign my source doesn't like me ?

I wouldn’t take it either way. There’s only 2 people who know what’s going on and they won’t spill the beans to anyone else on something this high up. If it happens then nobody will get wind of it until it’s done

Hypothetically if this was done tomorrow do we have to announce it straight away or do we have a week or so grace period.

Obviously announcing the Qataris have put £1bn in will make prices go up a touch.

If we could go back to when ENIC bought Spurs who would have been happy if we were told ‘we won’t win anything for 23 years but we’ll build the best stadium so we can compete… for 4th-8th and continue to not win very much?
Let’s be clear, people got on board with the stadium as they believed ‘short’ (I use that word losely) term pain for long term gain, but really that was all a fallacy. Here we are and guess what? their real motivation isn’t to suddenly turn us into winners, it’s the same as it’s always been to make more money, with football ambition still the secondary consideration .
If you tolerate these ****s you’re part of the problem, we need them out yesterday…
But but but sacking Conte and hiring Poch will obviously fix it...

The point of £1B in the club is that prices won't matter... you pay what you need to get what you need.

It's all very well saying the Qatari's won't have to do much if they buy us but we all know DL will be charging an arm and a leg for the club because of that. It would probably still be much cheaper for them to buy West Ham or Palace and invest in the infrastructure there than to buy us at DL's asking price.

It doesn’t matter if you sign great players if you can’t find the right balance in your team and squad. In many ways it’s the same problem QSI have had at PSG, they’ve never had a team greater than the sum of its very expensive parts.

But you're ignoring the tiny issue of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC that effectively put us back a year. We need to give the stadium more time to yield its return.

What has he got wrong - balance-wise - at Spurs?

Spence - was a Levy project.
Royal - brought in to play in a back 4.
Gil - this is one where we might have spent money more wisely - given the demands of PL - but a young punt
Bissouma - has not played his best - but I don't think that is a balance issue.
Lenglet - not a long-term solution, but a decent stop-gap while waiting for the right player to be avialable

Romero, Bentancur, Sarr, Udogie, Perisic all hits for me. Forster was a hit for what we needed/wanted - HG back-up keeper within a budget.

Not really - because they can't buy a controlling interest.

Spurs probably look best - even at an inflated price - because, to use Poch's term, it just need to add the furniture.

Other clubs need to invest in infrastructure - and players. Spurs just need to focus on the players.

Not signing a midfielder who can pass the ball creatively has been a glaring issue that really has stymied us. I look at our squad and it still lacks pace and genuine ability in tight spaces too.

I’m not totally down on him, Romero, Kulusevski and Bentancur have all been great signings. But the fact they all came from his former club (Romero via Atalanta) is an issue too. That well is probably dry now.

Time will tell, but he worries me.
