16:18 Yellow Card - Emmanuel Adebayor was sent-off against Arsenal earlier this season, and he is wild again as he charges in to Thomas Vermaelen. It's wild, it's out of control and he is rightly booked by referee Mark Clattenburg. Booking for Emmanuel Adebayor for unsporting behaviour.
16:29 Yellow Card -Jan Vertonghen
16:30 Yellow Card -Aaron Ramsey
16:36 GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Arsenal - Gareth Bale (37 mins)
You guessed it - Gareth Bale breaks the deadlock! It's a carbon copy of an earlier move as Gylfi Sigurdsson drifts in from the left, looks up and picks out Bale with a wonderful pass. Bale is just onside and finishes with the outside of his boot, flicking the ball home. That's 20 for the season.
16:39 GOAL - Tottenham 2-0 Arsenal - Aaron Lennon (39 mins)
Several issues in the Arsenal backline as Spurs double the lead. Scott Parker claims the assist on this occasion, running in from that left channel before picking out Aaron Lennon with a surgical through-ball. Again the offside trap is all over the place, Lennon runs in from the right, skips around Wojciech Szczesny and rolls the ball home. Jubilant scenes at the Lane.
HALF-TIME - Tottenham 2-0 Arsenal
17:08 GOAL - Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal - Per Mertesacker (51 mins)
And that free-kick is important! Theo Walcott crosses, Per Mertesacker runs to the near post and heads home, with the ball taking a deflection off the head of Gareth Bale in the process.
Is another comeback on?
17:21 HANDBAGS - Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Emmanuel Adebayor goes down with an injury but Arsenal play on, as is their right. Arsenal then win a free-kick and Spurs kick-off, with Michael Dawson sprinting over to make his point heard. He then squares up to Thomas Vermaelen and referee Mark Clattenburg has to intervene. There are no bookings shown though.
17:23 SUBSTITUTION - Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Emmanuel Adebayor has to come off with that injury, it looks like an ankle injury. Jermain Defoe is on in his place.
17:42 Brilliant play from Mousa Dembele as he robs Jack Wilshere of the ball, Gylfi Sigurdsson takes it on and fired wide. But Dembele is in real trouble here. His left knee rather buckled as he made that challenge and he looks in real pain.

Andre Villas-Boas reports that Jermain Defoe 'has a chance' of being available for Sunday’s North London derby at the Lane.

The striker has returned to training this week after picking up an ankle injury against West Brom on February 3.

Speaking after training on Friday, Andre said: “Jermain has trained with the team for the last two days and will train again tomorrow.”

Clint Dempsey remains out with a calf strain and Andre reported no further problems with Younes Kaboul, Sandro and Tom Huddlestone all sidelined.

Tottenham have blown so many opportunities to swing the pendulum of north London power their way in recent seasons. This time they must make it count.

Spurs have managed to win only five of the last 20 meetings where they have scored the opening goal. At the Emirates in November, the visitors looked commanding at 1-0 up in the first 10 minutes through Emmanuel Adebayor. But then the striker now loathed by his old Arsenal supporters got himself stupidly sent off. Arsenal took charge and won 5-2.

Andre Villas-Boas knows a victory will propel his Spurs team a huge way towards the Champions League, leaving the Gunners seven points adrift of their arch-rivals with 10 games to play. Tottenham are unbeaten in 11 games. Gareth Bale is in the form of his life with 12 goals in his last 12 games. Adebayor will be on a mission of redemption. They'll never have a better chance to convincingly become the top side in the capital.

But should they lose at home in this fixture for the first time since September 2007, those old doubts will come creeping back. Will they choke in the final weeks again?

The dramatic recent history of this famous old clash would suggest it is impossible to predict.

There have been 33 goals in the last six meetings.

But it's very difficult to see Arsenal's flimsy defence holding Spurs at bay. They've kept just one clean sheet in 13 games against top six or Champions League opposition this season.

Their brittle confidence won't have been wholly reinforced by the win against Aston Villa or their five-game unbeaten league run. If the Gunners concede first this time, Spurs could run rampant.

Reports of a massive summer transfer market splurge might appease some fans, but with an almost certain Champions League exit in Munich to come in the next fortnight, Arsene Wenger really needs a victory.

That would breathe new life into a morbid campaign and get him out of jail. Not that Spurs are in a mood to grant him Bale.

Old rivalries will be rekindled on Sunday when Tottenham welcome North London neighbours Arsenal to White Hart Lane.

Local pride will once again be put on the line as two of the capital's fiercest rivals go toe-to-toe, but the fact that both clubs are pushing hard for a top-four finish this season has added extra spice to the occasion.

Spurs' impressive progress under Andre Villas-Boas has taken them to third spot in the Premier League table, with their sights now being set on ending the campaign as the top side in London.

That is a standing Arsenal have been used to occupying down the years, but they are sweating on their continued involvement in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsene Wenger has a faultless record when it comes to securing a seat at European football's top table, but there is no guarantee that invitation will be renewed in 2013/14.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal will head into derby day on the back of three straight wins in the league, while recent encounters between the two suggest fireworks can be expected - with there having been just one goalless draw between the pair since 1998 and 53 goals plundered in their last 11 meetings in all competitions.

Something in my water says Wilshire will get sent off on Sunday, he will be so wound up and will want to protect his beloved manager, I think he will act like one of those Duracell bunnies, just up to Scotty to tip him over the edge. ;)

Bale's confidence will be sky high, he's bound to score - kiss of death!

Obviously we need a big performance collectively but, for me, the two other key men here are Dembele and Adebayor. They raise their game and we are in business.

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna will miss the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and midfielder Abou Diaby is rated a 50-50 chance.
"Abou has a calf problem, a minor one. He will have tests and then we will see if we can use him or not," said manager Arsene Wenger.
Diaby's fellow Frenchman Sagna has a knee injury and missed last weekend's win over Aston Villa.
"He is not ready for Sunday. It is too short for him," added the Frenchman.

Sagna out is not a bad thing.

Will be my fourth trip to a THFC game this season. So far I was in the winning crowd @United, @Sunderland, @home against Reading. Hope I can see my 6th win in a row!

Inside Lane: A Spurs fan picks his Tottenham and Arsenal XI

Tottenham blogger Ben McAleer selects his North London XI ahead of this weekend’s derby at White Hart Lane.

Whether it’s at the Lane or the Emirates, Tottenham and Arsenal supporters look forward to this encounter more than any other.

Since the two teams met back in November, Spurs have been defeated just once in the Premier League and have moved up to third, while Arsenal have lost three times and lost ground in the race for a top-four finish.

Naturally, journalists, fans and pundits will be debating who has the better players in each position and attempting to come up with a combined XI.

Ahead of the 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Gunners this time last season, many selected 10 Spurs players, with Robin van Persie as Arsenal’s sole representative in the team.

Opinions swayed significantly following the full-time whistle though, and it is fair to say that the squad will be more mixed this time around – so here’s my North London XI.

There is little debate over the goalkeeper and, without question, the excellent Hugo Lloris would get the No1 jersey ahead of the error-prone Wojciech Szczesny, who was culpable for Aston Villa’s goal at the Emirates at the weekend.

Spurs would also dominate the defence, and personally I would field Jan Vertonghen at left-back alongside Michael Dawson and Steven Caulker – but Kyle Walker’s poor form means that Bacary Sagna would get the nod at right-back.

I would opt for a 4-2-3-1 system, and even an injured Sandro would be more productive than Scott Parker in the centre at present. If he were fit, the Brazilian would be an automatic pick, but who would partner him?

Mousa Dembele has been impressive this year but his performances have recently dipped, while Jack Wilshere has been in fine form, so the England man would slot in comfortably alongside Sandro.

An attacking trio of Gareth Bale, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Lennon would be an obvious fit and, despite the goalscoring form of Jermain Defoe earlier in the season, Olivier Giroud would offer a real focal point to the attack.

With a record of 14 goals and 10 assists in 38 games in all competitions, the Frenchman would give this combined north London outfit the burly attacking threat that it requires.

Of course, Emmanuel Adebayor has represented both clubs, but I doubt either set of fans would want to see him in the team.

Don't know the price yet but Bale to score in a Tottenham win looks very appealing

My only concern is that we've looked a bit powderpuff in midfield recently and with Cazorla and Wilshere the two main threats for Arsenal we're going to have to really up our game in that department. Dembele and Parker are good enough to control the game in there, and hopefully Holtby will play and inject a bit of impetus as well. But all three will need to have very good games.

They are there for the taking if we play to our best, but if we don't they've got more than enough quality to cause us problems.

Without trying to sound like a broken record, it's a damn shame that we don't have Sandro in midfield for this game!

Personally I think Gibbs' continued absence is more of a plus than Sagna as the latter has been pretty poor every time i've seen them play this season whereas Gibbs is generally one of the better performers in the side.

I think Monreal offers a lot more than Gibbs, pretty good signing.

Agree about Sagna, on current form they wouldn't class him as a great loss. Would be the same for Diaby.
