Probably that he should be In prison rather than scoring two goals against us I guess.

He should be in prison for that hair cut alone. Fucking highlights, my mum used to have highlights in the mid 80s, fucking pansy

Now my disappointment of today has slightly dissipated it's time to reflect and put some perspective on all this. Last week Conte was being ridiculed and castigated following a home defeat against lowly Burnley after bringing the title back to Stamford Bridge the previous season. This week, no doubt, the media will turn it's attention to Poch and potential transfer activity following this loss. The football world is a fickle place and in the Premiership criticism and pundit analysis can be both irrational and cut-throat.

So let's look at some facts....the team didn't suddenly turn from swan to ugly duckling overnight. A couple of players had an extremely bad day at the office (Wanyama and Lloris) whilst some of the others seemed off the pace and their minds elsewhere. Possession is not domination so whilst we were allowed to have the ball and pass it about ....when the time came in the final third of the pitch for us to carve a way through the defence we just lacked that innovative play that would put the ball in their net.

The result of that was a second half which although put pressure on the Chelsea backs never really materialised into anything truly significant. Their first goal was a fantastic effort from Alonso but the opportunity should never have arisen and Alli will hopefully reflect upon (and bitterly regret) that petulant heel flick.

It was a fortunate equaliser that brought huge sighs of relief around the ground but it was not seized upon as an opportunity to deal the 'coup de grace' and try to take three points.Instead we tried to 'force' a winner and their second stemmed from a bad throw out to a player who immediately lost possession, followed by a near post shot that Lloris would normally save blindfolded.

So two games played and 3 points...same as Chelsea, and Arsenal. Let's not start any doom and gloom scenarios just yet. The team need to take a good hard, honest look at today's performance and learn from it. Chelsea host Everton next week, with Man City playing them tomorrow night whilst Arsenal travel to Anfield on Sunday ....no easy games there....we have Burnley at home.
It is important that we bounce back with an emphatic win immediately and start burying these Wembley jinx theories as soon as possible. I know it hurts but it's very early days and we must use this defeat as a salutary lesson.

Keep the faith....we have new player(s) arriving and a chance to change things a bit regarding team selection. Let's see where we are after six matches before we even begin to start worrying. (y)

Not been back home long, really disappointed. We didn't deserve to lose. But I thought we were sluggish for most of the game. Chelsea flooded the middle of the park and we tried walking it through them. There was no spark or plan 'b'. Dele didn't really make the runs we are used to (in fact no one seemed to be trying to find space) . Everything seemed to be at walking pace. The excuse for our bad performances at Wembley last year was that the pitch was too big, we needed to make more use of the space by making runs and moving the ball about much quicker.
I thought Wanyama was poor today and it was apt that his bad control that led to the winner. if he flicks it first time to Sissoko and we are two on one with the fullback, instead he lets it get away from him and we are 2-1 down. I think we should have brought Son on earlier as he injects some pace into our attacks. The atmosphere was good for periods but we never sustained it. After we equalised was incredible until they scored.
My post sounds like it was a bad performance, it wasn't, we played well enough to win this game and with a bit of fortune and a fairer ref, we probably would have!

COYS!!

If they were targeting Trippier at goal kicks for the height mismatch you could, for example, send Dier out to the flank to defend it and make them do something else.

But that would require thinking on your feet and adapting to how the game is going, something that modern sportsmen seem to find rather difficult.....

Agree that fullbacks were an issue, and what they offer. Tactics didn't help though.

I don't see how that's relevant at all, shouldn't belong in this thread in all honesty.

The guy is a scumbag who got away with murder.

He played against us so its completely relevant to mention this.

He is hated in Spain and people should know why.

At least the result doesn`t reflect the game on the pitch. 2-2 is a result that reflects the game as it was IMO. And don`t forget, this was our first game at the "home ground" of Wembley where we met Chelsea! I`ll try to be optimistic.

By the way; it might have been discussed (havn`t checked), but did Dembele have problems with his leg/knee at the end of the game? Looked like it. Seemed like he was uncapable of running when Marcos Alonsos scored the last goal. Or maybe it was just the start of some cramp?

We need pace.
****e was able to force Dele wide, Eriksen deep and isolate Kane (who still had an excellent game IMO - how unlucky again!). Toby has an excellent long ball in him but we don't quite have the speed to take advantage/switch it up. No downer on Tripps or Davies, both were decent. Rather than castigate Wanyama, I think we should consider that it was his first match in what, 5 weeks? Today might've been a day to pair Winks in there and let Victor get more match fit. Hugo, however, should know better. Being beaten on the near-post? OK, poor but it happens. However that throw out was poor! Very poor! Look wide if you want quick release OR hold on to it right there. Agree that Toby has not quite been the same player for a while...But we will be absolutely fine. I still hope we sign some real pace though...

Aside from the lack of paragraphs hurting my eyeballs, this is an excellent post.

I feel like the players really struggle with being clinical at Wembley, I have no idea why that is but I am hoping it changes over the course of the season.

While you may be right. I don't recall a single moment in that game where I thought "if we had more pace, we'd have scored there". Chelsea had a game plan, defend deep and be organized, and that's what they done. Apart from a couple of moments when we were 1 down, they didn't open us up or really get in behind us

Ye fucking jest. We are void of any pace going forward. Willian is a prime example of exactly the player we do not have on our team. Someone with pace, who can take on a defender, distributes the ball well and brings others into the game.

Chel$ea set out to mark Dele and Eriksen out of the game, succeeded in that and then to a certain extent we became evermore predictable in our general play.

I agree with you, however, he is playing. So making that point although justified is not relevant.
I understand where you're coming from and you're right. It's just painful to watch, that's all. Doesn't have to be against Spurs, the guy playing football to level he does feels like an injustice.

I want the forum to know who he is.

We've questioned the potential signing of Serge Aurier for historic homophobic comments and attitude.....And then there's this guy, playing for the Champions.

Nobody, no matter who the club, knows anything about his past, or seemingly gives a fuck.
