What a great piece of business, getting rid of Pav for 8-9m and bring Saha on a free.

If we can keep Saha fit he will be very use full for us.

Can play with Manu, Defoe and VdV.

I realise that Defoe is coming back from injury, but wondered how he felt to see Saha start ahead of him yesterday. He may feel he's being marginlised and potentially could consider his future lies elsewhere.

We need a fully focused and hungry Defoe for the remainder of the season, but too many cameo roles, however good, may not be to his liking for much longer. and performances may suffer as a consequence.

That's possible, but if anyone can keep him on-side and focused it's Harry, and, let's be realistic, he's likely to have more competition than Saha come the summer. Will he let his performance level drop with the Euros coming up? They're probably his last realistic chance of playing a big international tournament, and he learned not to be complacent about his selection in 2006.

Did anyone else think the ESPN build up was cringeworthy? Newcastle living in our shadow or some bollox but this is their time? Lol

The half time thing with John Barnes too, saying how their defender needed to get into this space as Saha was going there but he wasn't! As soon as he presed play the payers moved about 1 foot forward and we scored.

Haha brilliant game though, was a great one for our nerves, a game where we could all relax early on, I have said it before and I am sure most of us have, you CAN'T come to our place and play 2 up top. It is why we very rarely play 2 up top away from home.

I have just finished watching the MOTD highlights - I'm sure there were a few "ghosts" of Tottenham past out there yesterday. Some of the passing was sublime and listening and watching the post-match praises by the MSM was such a pleasure.

No, I have not been drinking.

How dare you bet on king to let in a goal, go sit in the corner and think about what u have done sp!

And I could have got similar odds for a 5 - 0.
Just thought the much vaunted Ba/Cisse strikeforce could nick a goal from anywhere - one ball lobbed over our midfield, one moment of brilliance/Dawson mania...

Great performance...;.absolutely fantastic.

Well, well, well...Saha, great stuff...how many didn't want that signing?

Thought it was a shrewd piece of business at the time

All the ones that didn't want the Friedel signing...and the Adebayor signing...and the Parker signing.

I know 'Arry, like all managers, has signed a few duffsters in his time, but these folk actually get angry, and call you some kind of apologist, when you suggest, like, he might actually know what he is doing - might have more of an idea than them :duh:

Posted before but I had a good feeling that he was going to score today.

Will he be next to go into the Parker and Friedel 'Harry knows best' transfers -it's looking likely and that's very pleasing!

:hump:

Saha and Ade looked great together. Both full of energy, both strong and both with good feet (esepcially Saha in terms of shooting). Funny how in terms of partnerships all eyes were on Ba and Cisse but Adebayor and Saha stole the spotlight.

I thought Defoe actually played alright when he came on but I really think Saha offers a lot more. Today he was almost like a Defoe who was involved in our build up play and could also play as a target man.

That is probably why he was signed by Fergie, who has never made any kind of move for JD (with all due respect to the lad) - it was injury that ruinied Saha's United career, not ability.

Very, very cringeworthy.

With Saha in the centre, we saw Bale back on the flank more; and that liven up the whole offense. When Rafa is fit, play him for the first 60 minutes and then with fresh legs, Saha will do a lot of damage when he comes on.

Yep. You drank me out of house and home you reprobate!!! Good to see ya again mate and hope the mrs didn't give you too much of a hard time.:)

 She was fine after I got her some chips!

Good to see you again too. I think I owe you a pack of fags! Great game to go to, and a brilliant atmosphere. If Adebayor and Saha carry on playing like that together VDV will have a problem.

Some great stuff in the papers this morning:

"As a kid, you always dream of playing fantasy, attacking football and you've seen that here," Saha said, a little breathlessly. "In the first 15 minutes, it was the quickest football that I've ever played."

When Spurs play as they did in the first half, all seems to be right with English football. The ghosts of White Hart Lane's glorious past rise up and applaud the dash and verve of their descendants, the current representatives of a club that has held on to its principles through good times and bad.

Tottenham's supporters could be forgiven for wondering whether things could get any better. Newcastle had arrived in search of the victory that would have lifted them into the Champions League places; they were dispatched with a shuddering bump. Tottenham's own Champions League qualification appears assured, they are comfortably the best team in London and they are not yet out of title contention in the Premier League

What he [Redknapp] saw provided a serene end to a surreal week. His team gave an exhibition of speedy, stylish, team-orientated football. The little masterpiece he has been working on in this corner of London looked radiant.

Gives me goosebumps!
