Tottenham duo Emmanuel Adebayor and Ledley King are both injury doubts.

Harry Redknapp says anyone "not in the right frame of mind to play" following Fabrice Muamba's cardiac arrest will be allowed to miss Wednesday's game.

Stoke forward Ricardo Fuller serves the second match of a three-game ban following his red card at Chelsea.

Asmir Begovic is likely to return in goal in place of Thomas Sorensen, who started Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Liverpool.

Spurs fans were a credit to their club last Saturday as the awful events surrounding Fabrice Muamba unfolded before their eyes.

Tottenham's players will also have had a difficult few days. No doubt the training ground has been a subdued place this week as they attempted to get back to the work of securing a Champions League place after some poor recent results.

Tottenham will feel they are due a win over Stoke having lost both a highly-charged Premier League game and a Carling Cup third round tie at the Britannia Stadium already this season. Having spent the best part of four months in third place tucked in behind the Manchester clubs, it would be a bitter disappointment not to finish as London's top side for the first time since 1995.

Stoke's best finish since 1975 is 11th and they still hope to beat that, which would be a great achievement especially when you consider that they have also played in 18 cup games this season.

Tony Pulis's side have not won an away game in the league since early January and have scored only nine league goals on the road this season, which suggests they will need to improve if they are to repeat their win at White Hart Lane of two seasons ago.

Head-to-head

  • Stoke won 1-0 at White Hart Lane in October 2009 thanks to a Glenn Whelan goal, but that is their only victory away to Tottenham in 37 years.
  • The Potters won the reverse fixture 2-1 in December - victory on Wednesday would give them their first ever league double over Spurs. They also beat Harry Redknapp's side on penalties in the third round of the Carling Cup this season.
Tottenham

  • Spurs have been beaten in their last three Premier League games - defeat on Wednesday would make this their worst run since losing six in a row from October to November 2004.
  • They have scored in each of their last 19 top-flight games at White Hart Lane. The last time they failed to net in a home league match was the 0-0 draw with West Ham on 19 March 2011.
  • Tottenham have won only one of the eight league games in which they conceded the opening goal this season (W1, D1, L6).
  • Spurs have drawn 99 Premier League games at White Hart Lane.
Stoke

  • The Potters have lost eight successive league games in London since their 1-0 win at Fulham in May 2010.
  • Stoke have scored nine away league goals this term. Only Fulham (eight) have a worse record.
  • They have won all six of the Premier League matches this season in which they led at half-time.

King was at training today, so looking good for the match

Interesting, thought Harry might of saved him for Saturday, but then again 3 points against Stoke are more winnable and thus could be the priority

I hope not, if true I would be very disappointed with Harry, we lose on saturday they are one point behind us providing they match our result tomorrow

Yeah but we need to get the business down tomorrow, I agree with you but I can see why Harry might ponder it.

Gallas is back though so he can play with Kaboul at Chelsea. Takes some of the pressure off King.

We no longer have the buffer. Strongest team possible every game. No mixing and matching and looking beyond the next game.

King played against Sunderland and then against Chelsea 4 days after.

If his knee is alright then he could play in both games.

We could rest him against Stoke and find he then cant play against Chelsea as his knee is playing up

We all know Stoke will be a hard physical game, that's just the way Pulis has them playing. However I'm sure the boys will do their best to win particularlu knowing that the Arse anal are breathing down our necks
Time to show what they're made of with two hard games coming up

In the last 4 games (3 of them being at home) we've been the first to concede so let's hope we get a good start tomorrow also.
