Its sad that the family have had to fight for this for so long and can now hopefully build some sort of life for the lad with the compensation.

This was back in 2006, there have been so many advances in training and monitoring equipment. All clubs have a responsibility to check the health of the players and regular points during matches and training.

The Fabrice Muamba incident was only 4 years ago and I think that escalated the need to be vigilant even further.

Hell...only the other week that Sunderland player got pulled from playing against us just before KO due to irregular results from a heart scan/test.

Lessons will definitely have been learnt...its just sad that its happened.

How much will they actually get? Those legal sharks would have bitten off the bigger share?

And the doctor who made the call has been fired.

Why did the club not admit negligence or were they stating that they were reliant on the professional opinion of the medics?

From the accounts I read it seems the doctors who ran the tests did not communicate the issues to the club doctors. So the club were unaware.
Seems harsh to say the club is responsible if those circumstances are true. Yet the verdict was the club were 70% at fault and the doctors 30%?
seems odd.
