Good move for all concerned. He is going to be nothing more than a squad player for us (if that) - him leaving will free up his wages, make us a tidy profit and he will be first choice in their team which will benefit him in regards to England and building up to Euro2016.

A shame it hasn't worked out for him, so few come through the ranks to become first team regulars that when someone gets close you want him to complete the job. Sadly things aren't right between him and Poch, he hasn't been even on the bench in lots of games recently, so if Poch wants shot of him that's who I'm backing. Hope we get good money, ideally enough for a new striker.

As they look to be heading for the Championship, I cant see why he would chose to move there, surely someone else will be interested?

I'm sure that we're hoping for a little bidding war for him. I just think that it's a shame things couldn't have worked out for him really...

Reminds me somewhat of our former centre back Anthony Gardiner in that from the neck down there's a hell of a footballer there .... Oh well good luck wherever you end up Andros.

Agreed - he could do a good job at a number of clubs, certainly teams higher up in the league, wages however are likely to be the problem for them I suspect.
Good luck to him; I do hope he can resurrect his career. He's always come across as a great guy and has been a good servant.
Best of luck!

He seems to struggle in following instructions and seems to play for personal glory rather than team victory.

I had high hopes for him initially however the England caps, the debut goal and the ensuing media over hype was the worse thing to have happened.

Started believing his own hype

Had high hopes for Townsend, but it seemed after bale left that he wanted to be the new bale. Shooting from everywhere, reluctant to pass. Difference was, Bale learnt to pass first then start smashing them in. Good luck to the lad, but for me he harmed his own time at WHL.

Needs to leave for his sake and ours. Would have loved him to succeed, but he's not good enough imo. Would have preferred it to be West Brom to give us a bit of leverage over Berahinho.

I hope if he is going to Sunderland we have the good sense to drag it out until after the 16th.

What do you know his instructions to be that he didn't follow?

Never rated him as a player, even when all of the England hype was in the forefront of the media. Selfish and One-Dimensional.
As a person however, he has always come across well in interviews and has been a long time patron fro the club.

All the best wherever you go! Hoping for a swap deal with WBA.

What do you know his instructions to be that he didn't follow?

This is my opinion based on comments made by an ITK (I think Trix, but I may be wrong) on why Townsend wasn't getting more first team action previously and coments from Troy Townsend in a podcast interview with the Fighting Cock when he said that Andros had to "adapt his game better to suit what the manager wants".

You can also assume, by logic deduction, that since Townsend wasn't in the team, wasn't playing the same style his team mates were and was firing off inaccurate shots at every opportunity despite having better placed team mates that he hasn't adapted to being a selfless team player like Lamela for example.

On a personal note, he's always come across as being very likeable and wanted to be successful at Spurs. It's seems that as previously mentioned he tried too hard to take over the mantle of Bale before being ready for it.

Having said all that on instructions, he didn't follow instructions to warm down by the Fitness Coach when asked. ;)

Lots of good points above. From my source I believe he is indeed a lovely bloke, he really would rather stay if he could get meaningful game-time. The staff don't believe his game has developed as much as Lamela's. Erik's willingness to track back when the oppo are attacking us, his tenacity in tackling back when he has given the ball away and his decision making at attempting the right pass/cross/shot are all better than Townsend's. Aside from the current midfield, we have Onomah on the fringes, and Pritchard when he returns as well.
Makes sense to cash in on Townsend and put the proceeds towards cover for Kane. Given the noises re Berahino's fitness I'd take a gamble on Dembele at Fulham.
