With the train strike on 20th Aug impacting our home game against Wolves (even worse that it’s an early ko) what are the best travel options?

Currently torn between:
  • Driving to local area but no idea of best spots / car parks
  • Train line not on strike (looks like London overground may be an option)
  • Bus services

What are the best options above and does anybody know if any trains are likely to be running?

I'm coming in from Essex.

Currently debating to drive to Upminster/Tower Hill and get the Tube or drive to Tottenham and park off the North Circular at Tesco/Ikea and walk...prefer the latter, but unsure on any parking restrictions that have come in as its been 10 years since had to park there...i used to park on one of the Northumberland Pk industrials, but i reckon they'll be busy early doors on the 20th

Industrial estate you'll need to be there at least 2hrs before KO

That’s the aim, is traffic normally horrendous getting away? I’m thinking now cars cannot cross train tracks it should help a little…but traffic might be much more than any previous games on 20th

Missed Queen at the O2 because of the last set of strikes. No way the fuckers are going to do it to me again and cause me to miss this. I'll Uber it there and then worry about getting home afterwards. I am assuming buses will be on?

As someone not based in the UK and coming to this game - does this strike include the Tube? It's hard to keep track of which train companies do what

Today parts of it are affected, but a lot of the Underground is still running. There is a tube strike currently scheduled for the 19th though which you should probably bear in mind, although there's still some time left for that one to be resolved.

Make sure to remember it's the underpaying train company owners that are the fuckers, not the striking workers.

Check Big Green Coach who do the official buses. They do services from various places and are very good in my experience. Sadly there weren't enough people using them from Cambridge to justify them so they stopped. It used to be brilliant on evening games.

Traffic getting away is getting worse, I go over the bridge by Ikea, they park the away coaches down the road now so that don't help and now cars can come both ways (they use to make it so you could only go one way) It's always rammed, I would allow 30-60 mins before you hit ikea/tesco. I know some people park at North mid or around the Angel and walk/bus up, no idea how bad that is. North Circ is usually heavy but moving once you get on that

I’ve gone for the coach option and booked up my seat before they sell out. Not bad at only £25 return from Gillingham.

Be interesting to see what the journey there and back is like. Who knows, it may even turn into my new preferred option.

I started using their coaches last year. It’s a good service and a shortish walk to the stadium. So much more reliable the trains nowadays. The only drawback for me is that I have to take the car to the drop off point so have to hold back on drinking.
