Well, well.

Aug 13 2013 - Daily Mail Breaking News -

Watford Striker Troy Deeny emerges as a shock 5million Pound target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Most of you know his history - He was convicted for 10 months after pleading guilty to kicking man in night club.

Anyway, Deeney scored 20 goals from 43 championship game for Watford.

I am not sure whether this has any legs...

I have seen him play only in last year play off game - dont have much idea.

If there was one 3rd striker I wanted from championship that was Jordan Rhodes.
Not sure about him....

Can't see there being any truth in this one. From the ITK it seems Ade is on his way and we'll keep Defoe- am happy with that tbh as although Ade is a better fit for our system he's likely to be unhappy/sulking at being backup, whereas Defoe more likely to knuckle down and put a decent shift in when called upon. If Deeney came in he'd be 3rd choice CF in a team playing with a lone striker- it doesnt make sense from any perspective you wanna look at it IMO

Now then..... Very shortly after the season finished there was a lot of rumoured ITK surround Watford strikers and us.
People went for the obvious choice being Vydra seeing as he'd been linked previously, but I seem to think I suggested that Deeney looked a better option!!

£5 million ? ! Jesus. That makes me worth almost £1m. Ridiculous price even if we are interested which I'm sure we aren't.

I'd rather get a young talent like Alexandre Lacazette.

Is it true Lyon are still in need of some money? I'd love to get a young talent to be the third striker, especially when he can also get rotations out on the wing.

If he was younger then I could see the point of this.

Soldado will presumably be our first choice, and I'm hoping we'll bring in competition for him (if Ade is to leave). It would then be nice to have a third younger option to develop and be used in some of the 'lesser' competitions.

I haven't seen a lot of Deeney but he doesn't seem to fit into either of the categories where we need players. He's not good enough to be genuine competition to Soldado and not young enough to be a third choice willing to learn.

If the club reckon so then it's a yes from me. The guy scores goals and is intimidating. Maybe we could have done with someone like him for the last couple of years also. Spurs have obviously watched him over the last year.

Ok he's unfashionable.

But if true he must have some strengths that tickle us

Can someone tell me what kind of striker he is please?

According to my hornet mate he was awesome last season but vydra stole the show.
He's really knuckled down after serving his time which has justified watfords faith in him, he's a bit of a brute who can lead the line himself, is good with both feet and his head.
BUT if we're talking £5m I'd sooner pay the same for vydra who is younger and already a full international.
I do question why we feel we have no one who we can promote from within to be a third choice striker though...
