Loved him as a player. Some of greatest moments as Spurs/England fan watching him, genius. But having read his autobiography, seen documentary's, interviews and clips like above...i think he'd do my absolute head in if spent time with him

If anyone sees him, tell him to get his arse signed up on here. Idolised him from childhood and through my teens, and it wasn't just on the pitch, he's a natural entertainer, he has a fantastic ability to hold the attention of a crowd with a ball at his feet or a mic in his hand.

Sending good vibes, like smelly hippies do, I really hope he can find something to be positive about and focus on the good things not beat himself up over the bad luck, bad decisions and mistakes he might've made. We're all human, howay the lad.

An absolute genius in his field and yet another who can’t shake his demons. It’s so common and so sad.

Always been a hero of mine - I was always destined to be a Spurs fan and football lover, but this guy was really the catalyst for me falling in love with the beautiful game.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to him.

I met him in a nightclub in Blackpool after an FA cup game. He was with Paul Stewart and a rather large bouncer type dude. He was drinking a pint of orange squash. But I thought he’d taken about a g of LSD. I’ve never met anyone with such severe ADHD…..or he might have had a g of LSD?

I'm willing to bet that even with the passage of time, he simply can't get past that night Turin, and the FA Cup final in 91. Both huge turning points in his career, and could have been so different. We all have those moments in life, but the magnitudes are all relative. Any reminder to him about how much of a genius he was on the pitch probably just brings those regrets back. He probably hates being a figure of pity as well.

I really really hope he can get help and peace.

I hope any former or current players, staff or whatnot know that they'd be welcome on here and wouldn't be swamped with goofy fans tripping over themselves to bother them. They're family to us, I'd really appreciate their contribution and I'm pretty sure they could put the record straight on some of the crap we talk on here too :D

Honestly, Paul, if you ever happen to stumble across this thread - family, mate. Use a fake name if you like, just don't like the thought that someone who made such an impression on me and how I live my life, along with I'm sure thousands of others, is on their jack and unhappy.

I think the biggest thing in his life was holding his best mate died in his arms when he got run over and then spending the night in the room with the coffin. Pretty FU, not sure how any kid processes that

Just been re-reading his book, the signs were all there but alas he just can't help himself. Poor sod.

Gave me the greatest single pleasure any spurs fan can have when he pinged that free kick into the top corner at Wembley in 91. He was magical that season.

Video doing the rounds not showing him in a good way. All pretty sad.

England hasn’t produced a better talent since him, pure talent wise. Met him at Trafalgar Square after we beat Argentina 2002 World Cup. Legend

I’ve heard Stuart Pearce say Gazza was the best at everything pool, table tennis whatever

For sure, but I think the most I ever screamed for joy at a single goal was against Scotland in 1996. I was in the Standard at Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow, knew the landlord and he had a dozen of the regulars in to watch and we went mental. Out the doors into the traffic dancing and jumping about, such a great memory.

If I had to show someone one clip to describe him, how talented but how much of a showman he was as a player, it's that. Just the memory of seeing that makes me grin, can't imagine the rush he had wheeling away as it hit the net.

I love Gazza. Met him a few times, and had a hug and a kiss from him. He showed me his filed down eye teeth which made him lisp and the other players took the micky out of him, asking if he was going thamon fithing. :)
