United fans today sang

It's never your fault, never your fault, always the victims it's never your fault

Now I know that Liverpool are very hypocritical and never want to admit their own sordid past, Hysel etc but come that is seriously low. Pretty disgusting behaviour!

You'd think Fergies plea to stop making sick remarks would have made them think, but apparently not.

The comments of the United Supporters Trust were pretty laughable saying that there was 'no specific reference to Hillsborough' in the chanting.

That may be the case, and yes the victim mentality of Liverpool fans has obviously extended beyond Hillsborough, but in singing that song after the week of news we've had about Hillsborough those fans knew exactly what they were referencing.

Stupid fans yet again blighting the game. Sadly there are more than a few Spurs fans who would do a similar sort of thing (as Riggi has pointed out above).

Singing about people dieing... fun?
I'm sorry but there is no room for this in sport, it's disrespectful and has nothing to do with what is happening on the pitch.

Banter is one thing, but this goes beyond it... respect for your fellow man, regardless of whom they support.

Can't imagine what 'songs' will be sung when they meet on Sunday. Potential flashpoints both on and off the pitch. Should make for some interesting watching.

It shocks me that people should think of the loss of people or a single person dieing as fun? It's fun to mock a team when they miss out on a cup final etc not when someone has died. That is just disgraceful

Most of the time you could consider the song being about Liverpool blaming everyone else for the failures rather than looking closer to home, but given that hillsborough had dominated the headlines all week, I think it is pretty hard to do anything but condemn those few Utd fans for being ****s.

Right ok. At a football match people get carried away. I bet most fans who get caught up in the moment who sing these songs, wouldnt outside of a football ground/pub. Im sure most of us have sung or done something at football that you wouldnt do normally. I personally wouldnt sing about a death, but i can see how the booze and atmosphere can make people loose their morals

They diddnt sing about anyone dying, they sung about liverpool not taking any blame for the incedent. By the way, i think the mancs are bang out of order but meh nothing new.

Anyone got any new pedo wenger jokes?

This happened early on in a match between Manchester United and Wigan. How could they argue that they got 'caught up in the moment'?

Sorry, you put about getting caught up in the moment. To be honest, when you twin that with booze...then ye, same applies. I do think it was stupid that they sung this at a game where they wernt even playing liverpool but then again we still sing sol cambell songs. The bloke probably wants to kill himself tbh with all the abuse he still gets.

Anyone who sings the Sol Campbell songs is a muppet in the same way that these United fans were muppets.

There are plenty of songs that we sing about Sol Campbell that aren't like the infamous vile little ditty that some idiots sing. In the same way I'm sure there are plenty of songs that United fans could sing about Liverpool that couldn't be interpreted as mocking the death of 96 people in the week that it was all dragged up again.

There really isn't any excuse for it.

So its ok to have a dig at the guy, time and time and time again? Im just saying, bullying is bullying whether you sing about him hanging or just being shit.

Anyway, my point was just that im suprised that people are suprised really. Been happening for years with songs much worse.

I would argue that there is a big difference between saying someone is shit, or even saying that they are a Judas, and wishing that that someone is hung from a tree. You're never going to take the needle out of football, particularly when someone, to a certain extent, brings it on themselves.

But there has to be a line and even though we may not be surprised that some cross it, we should still criticise those that do.
