Absolutely,

Villa for example, wouldn't get a game in front of agbonlahor. O'N eill would never play two little men when he has Heskey and Carew. Not like our succession of managers with mental block....

.... And we had our best start to a season playing Defoe and Keane this season????

I actually think he'd do really well at Fulham.

I see it that he has only two moves available to get a regular first team place that would allow him to retain his dignity.

Celtic or Wolves. The reasons for each move shouldn't need an explanation

Retain his dignity? He can still feed himself and use the big boy toilet, right? He has an option of staying right where he is and fighting for a place in the team and in the Champions League. Hardly being put out to pasture at 29! I swear some people actually see him wandering onto the pitch mumbling, in his dressing gown and slippers

So prickly. You can take what i said as an insult to him if you like. I think if you were to turn your preciousness down a notch you'll see what i'm saying. Part of Keanes problems at the moment are psycological.
He left us a dignified as possible but it still wasn't great, It failed and he came back. That took guts but the affects of his failure at his "boy hood team" were long lasting for him and the unavoidable bitter taste in our mouths tempered our enthusiasm at the lane when he played.

Since then Defoe has worked hard to close the gap in his all round play and his youth and unwaivering confidence has contributed to great forma and rightful place as our no.1 striker. Keane is stuggling to play well in all these circumstances and i don't think a sideways on dwoards step would be good for him, and would look on the outside like another failure. To avoid it looking like only a step down to get first team football and an addmition he's no longer a top 8 Pl player, an emotional switch to Wolves or away from our premierleague to a European giant (and other boy hood club?) woudl be the best think to retain dignity/save face.. whatever you want to call it. Turn this situation into something more romantic.

I would want him to stay. there is surely not a better 3rd striker outside of Owen or Robhnio but i think him moving is inevitable and I'm willing to bet he won't be going to Utd, chav, goons, Villa, City, Everton or Liverpool.. the only 3 clubs that wouldn't be seen as a step down. So of whats left i think for the reasons mentioned Wolves would be the best PL move... maybe on loan. A hero returns if he contributes to them staing up then thats an amazing thing don't yo think?

But he is quite out of form Dougal, you have to admit that.

He's played in 16 of our 20 league games so I'm think it's rather premature to write Keane off as a first team player.

People act like Keane has been a dead wieght all season which is far from the truth he has popped up wth some goals and most games he has played he has been a link between Defoe and the midfield... He is really under appreciated as he was when he played up top with Mido

I do admit that, I'd like to think I have some grip on reality :) If I thought this was Keane at his best then he would be nowhere near Legend status. But my support for Spurs and their players lasts through thick and thin. If a player isn't at the top of his game does he then deserve abuse or encouragement?

16/20 is a fact, but the decline in starts from early season to now is also a fact is it not. I'm not the one reducing his game time Harry is.

Anyway this was a chat about ITK on Keane wanting a move not me wanting him to move. My opinion is he’d only find a buyer at a club that would be a step down and form that point of view I named a club I think he could choose that would cushion the fall a bit. The stuff about him not being better than Defoe I stand by now but I’d still keep him if he wanted to stay.

I think this is a big factor. Plenty of fans didn't like Keane very much before he went to Liverpool. Plenty of fans don't like Keane because he went to Liverpool. This means there is a huge proportion of our fanbase who will never truely warm to the Irishman again. There are a lot of people who are actively looking for sticks to beat Keane with.

Keane has struggled to regain the form he had before he left but he poor form has been hugely overstated. He's scored 9 in 20 this season, despite being played out of position on occation.

To avoid it looking like only a step down to get first team football and an addmition he's no longer a top 8 Pl player, an emotional switch to Wolves or away from our premierleague to a European giant (and other boy hood club?) woudl be the best think to retain dignity/save face.. whatever you want to call it. To say he's no longer good enough for a top 8 side is just clearly not true. He's been considered good enough by Harry to play in 16 out of our 20 league games this year. He's got 6 league goals in those 16 games and another 3 in our 4 cup games. That's 9 in 20 overall, which is better than his (or Defoes) previous average at Spurs. I'm not trying to claim he's our best striker at the club, or is as good now as he was in the past, just that he's demise had been hugely overstated partly dues to peoples tempered view of him.

I would argue that Keane isn't a third striker. He's made 14 out of 20 starts (with 6 goals), compared to Crouchs 12 out of 20 (with 4 goals). He's also started 3 out of our last 6 so I'd say he's well at truely competing with Crouch to be Defoes partner. Owen had only made 4 out of 20 and only has 2 league goals.

Harry and Levy have both said we wont sell any core players and it's hard to see Keane as anything other than that. Add to that the comments by Harry supporting Keane and I really can't see him going anywhere. There will alway be news about him leaving because a) there has been biweekly stories about him going to Celtic for about the past 5 years and b) lots of people are willing him out.

Keane started all of the first 12 league matches, but has then only started only 2 out of 8, in which he was subbed off on 58 and 71 mins. In the 6 that he didn't start he only came on as sub twice.

Crouch has played the full 90 in 10 of our last 11 league games, but had only started two before that.

It's clear than Harry's first choice partner for Defoe has switched from Keane to Crouch, since around the Sunderland game. This may not be a coincidence given how much better we were when Keane went off in that match.

But I'd only consider selling him if we've got a superior replacement lined up, and I'd be surprised if that were the case in the January window.

If he has a foreign sounding name, then he gets full support; in spite of football competence (or lack thereof).

If he has a non-foreign sounding name and scored 100 goals for the club, he gets abuse. Cold-hearted abuse.

 That's the key, mate.
