Saying that I feel that Ekotto is a competent left back and would keep him as a back up to Bale, but if Liverpool are prepared to offer us good money I think it's something we should seriously consider.

If anyone saw SSN earlier they would have seen Graham Roberts say he thinks we desperately need a LB so Bale can play further forward. He said the perfect partner would be Contreau (sp) from the portugal national team. Id second that, benny is a good player but id prefer the pace of Bale and lennon on the wings and a more solid LB.

Do some people on here still not understand it is a squad game. For the first time in eons we have a left-flank to be truly excited about, so some genii grin wish to break it up, and either leave Bale with no cover, or, if Bale plays on the wing (as some would like), no LB at all. Where's Chris Kamara when you need him:shrug:
And, as the man said, why strengthen Liverpool with what most of us know to be a damn fine full-back. I know I have said I think Liverpool (and Woy) will have a job on their hands stabilising this season, but we do have to show them some respect...adn doing everything we can to strengthen them ain't it.

Coentrao is good based on his World Cup showing, but he's a left winger recently been converted to left back, do we have any proof that he'd be more 'solid' than Benoit?
