If this is the case then I'd like us to simply get O'Hara back and keep him until the summer

Sounds a bit like the time we were supposed to have Diego wrapped up.
And look how he turned out when he went elsewhere.
Hope this doesn't happen again

Makes no sense. Now is the Brazilian close season so Inter are far more likely to let him leave now than during the middle of their season.

Didn't this only stall in August because Inter wanted him to stay till the end of the season because of their title challenge?

Still reckon this will be announced very soon.

has to be veloso now, with pav as a makeweight

Pav is valued at probably twice what Veloso is (£10m and £5m respectively). One is an international striker with an excellent Euros behind him. The other is a promising U21 LB whose development has stalled from his early promise.

I think the who Veloso story is just lazy journalism because we are linked with him every window.

I think Pav will go to Italy or Germany too.

i think both clubs want it to happen now and so does the player which is he was here for a "holiday" last month! No i think it is still a problem with the work permit

I agree that can be the only hold up, but John Alexander has also had more than 6 months to sort it out. It may be taking time but I can't see there ultimately being any problems.

As I understand it, the Brazilian season is split - first half is state championships, with some very mismatched games (hence players scoring 40 goals but never cutting it in a proper league) and then National Championships. The Copa Libertadores runs in line with our Champions League, and the reason why Sandro wants to stay is because of this.

He could also have his eyes on a world cup place and would feel a move would unsettle him

I didn't know that. However I don't think many players would miss their 'big chance' move to Europe to achieve something in the domestic league.

Sandro has no chance of a WC place this time round. I know he has one cap (when they European players weren't recalled), but he's about 5th or 6th in line for that volante slot. There's Gilberto Silva, Melo, Josue, Ramires, Lucas etc. Just about every player in the current Brazil squad apart from Adriano play in Europe - without that they are almost out of contention.

Isn't Manual Veloso the portugese international teams holding midfielder? If it's him who we were talking about, a swap with Pav would be excellent. He was valued at around £20M not long ago when Man united were supposedly after him?

No, that was Armando Petit and is now Meireles.

Veloso is on the fringes of the squad but mainly plays for the U21s. He's hugely overrated and overhyped because of one CL game against Inter Milan a few years back when he made Vieria look a mug (which has subsequently been shown to be not that hard to do these days).

He had a good game at Old Trafford too, which made Fergie monitor him for while, but that interest died along time ago.

So much for the itk's in september saying it was a done deal. I believe its more to do with the ownership and work permit problem's. I rather wait for Sandro, than get in Veloso. If Veloso was any way half decent then several bigger clubs than ourselves would have signed him already.

And maybe that is the reason he has not been granted the work permit! I dont think this will go ahead now or the summer for the same reason if he does not have enough caps now why will waiting till the summer change this?

It's never a done deal until it's on the official site, even ITKs know that.

Sandro himself said something like he "wouldn't mind" staying to play the Libertadores, and that that could be quite a nice or appropriate time to leave.
